In order to provide a relevant and efficient library service to meet the needs of a growing and vibrant City and County, plans are well advanced on a new Central Library, H.Q., Local Studies Centre and Store. This will be a state of the art facility and allow the expansion and development of Library Services. New developments for 2001 include a Library and Local Studies Web site and Web OPAC (online public access catalogue) i.e. the Library catalogue available on the Web.

  Since 1910 Kilkenny Public Library Service has been opening doors on imagination, and learning, building well informed  communities, supporting local enterprise and improving peoples lives. Now with our Development Plan, through the  provision of the necessary infrastructure and support we aim to deliver a knowledge network for the new century reaching the entire population of Kilkenny.
