How do I Join?

 

Simply call to your nearest branch library and fill out an application form.

 

How much does it cost?

The annual membership rates are:

Family Borrower - €25.00

Adults (employed) - €15.00

Unemployed - €6.00

Students (aged 14-18) - €6.00

O.A.P.’s - €6.00

Children (under 14 years) - FREE

(A parent or guarantor must sign the application form for children) 

How many books can I borrow?

Adults can borrow up to 6 books/magazines/CDs etc. while children can borrow 3 items. Family Borrower membership entitles the family to 15 items.

How long can I borrow the books for?

Any item borrowed can be kept for 3 weeks.

 What if I haven’t finished reading the book?

You can extend the loan period of the item for a further 3 weeks if it is not required by another reader. You can do this by bringing the item back to your library or by telephoning the library. 

Can I use other library branches in the county?

As a member of the library you may also use your membership at other branch libraries in the county, but items must be returned to the library from which they were borrowed.

  Can I use the Internet?

In order to use the Internet, you must first join your local branch library. Under 18’s have to fill in a consent form in order to use the Internet. This has to be signed in the library by a parent or guarantor.  There is a charge of €1.25 per half hour use. Your membership entitles you to use the Internet in any of the branch libraries in Kilkenny.
