The following are some photographs of my 1987 Mk1 Suzuki Swift Gti Rally Car in action on tarmac here in Ireland. I have competed in the car since 1996 with virtually a 100% finishing record. The car was basically standard when I bought it and over the years I have modified it in the pursuit of being more competitive. The car regularly wins the 1400cc modified class and has even finished in the overall top 10 in rallies which have 130 other competing cars!
I run on a very tight budget and prepare the car totally myself. I get a great enjoyment out of rallying, not only competing and winning but also going out and beating other competitors who seem to think that the more money you throw at a car the quicker it will make you go!
Having competed in various different types of motorsport over the years I have never come across a car like the MK1 Gti Swift, which is so competitive (even in current competition) and which can be run on a shoe string budget. It is a car I will never sell and probably never replace.
