Kevin Ryan, a keen amateur photographer, is a native of Castlebar, Co. Mayo. He and his wife, Carmel, live in Westcourt, Ballincollig, Co. Cork.

Kevin's love of the West of Ireland brings him "home" at every given opportunity. Most of his work of of landscape scenes from the west and south of Ireland. He strives to capture through his lens, the elusive characters of changing light, colour and mood of these places.

He is also interested in Black & White Photography and has his own darkroom. His loves are landscape, portraiture and the photography of beautiful things.

Kevin has been a member of Cork Camera Group for twelve years and was voted the Club's "Photographer of the Year" from 1995 t 1998 inclusive. During those years he has won awards and commendations from Kodak, Fuji and Agfa.

  • 1997 he gained his licentiate from the Irish Photographic Federation (L.I.P.F.) for a panel of colour transparencies.
  • 1998 he became an Associate of the Irish Photograpic Federation (A.I.P.F.) for a panel of "Lith" prints.

  • Winner of Best Colour Print and Best Monochrome Print, Southern Association of Camera Clubs.

    1999
  • Two prints Very Highly Commended and Highly Commended - Photographic Federation of Ireland.
  • His "Killarney Anglers" won joint second prize in the Black Bushmills Art as Photography "Free Spirit" Competition which was open to professional and amateur photographers.

  • Silver Medal - Best Nature Irish Open Competition - Photographic Society of Ireland.
  • Silver Medal - Best Environmental Portrait, Photographic Society of Ireland.
  • Gold Medal - Portraiture, Togher International Festival of Photography.

    • 2001
  • Kevin again awarded the coveted Photographer of the Year Trophy, Cork Camera Group.
  • Prints published in A Mayo Moment and Photography Ireland books.
  • Kevin staged exhibitions in the South Infirmary / Victoria Hospital and at Beamish & Crawford plc.

  • Kevin staged an exhibition at the Cork Vision Centre.
