February
1986: Boyneside Radio, Kells, County Meath [30 miles N.W of Dublin
City]. Following many years of successful transmissions from Drogheda,
Boyneside
Radio decided to
branch-out and set up a relay 'opt-out' service for neighbouring County
Meath. The studios were
located in a disused tanning room, on the premises of Monaghan's Health
Club, just north of the town.
Pictured here is Kieran Murray, preparing for the mid-morning show.
This
is picture very memorable, because it was here, on
April 26, 1986 that I heard news of the
Chernobyl nuclear disaster. |
