Welcome to The Kieran Murray Homepage

Briefly, I was born in Dublin, Ireland and the world has never been the same since (well not really, but I just like to think that!) On my 9th birthday I got a present of a small transistor radio. What? You never heard of that? Well you can see one here and here. The very first pirate radio station I heard was Radio Dublin. This was to make a lasting impression on me for the rest of my life.

From that point on, I was hooked on pirate radio (unlicensed radio) and in particular Irish pirate radio

Very brief: since leaving school, I worked on various pirate stations before getting a job on a real "legal" radio station. Then in 1998, I left it all behind for a change of career and direction.

I went on to work for a GSM mobile service provider. It is a great company - and the proof is that it was voted the Best Company To Work For in Ireland in 2006!

Before we get into the details about this site, first a lesson. A few years ago my computer crashed - but guess what? I had backed-up everything! The lesson? ALWAYS BACK-UP YOUR PC REGULARILY!!

So what's this site all about and what can you find on it? Well, this site is all about me, Kieran Murray and my life history involvement in radio broadcasting. So what can you find on this site? Well, there's that very cute baby to the right. Click on the photo to see a more recent photo of me. The Photo Gallery has been improved plus there's a bonus Radio Carousel gallery [with thanks to Derek Flood].

There's a real warning for aspiring Radio Presenters out there about the pitfalls of working on legal radio. Don't let that put you off though, go through this site and see what can be learned.

On this site, you can also listen to Irish Radio with Real Audio and Windows Media Player and play the MP3 files using iTunes. The radio listing has been updated to include a link to every Irish radio station that's streaming on the internet. The site also has improved navigation tools, with the page menu to the left of every page now.

This site has been further updated: you can now download the audio files in MP3 format direct to your PC!! Each MP3 file has the file size in brackets just to let you know how long it will take to load. There's photographs of radio stations, studios, presenters, transmitters and antennas in The Radio Gallery. The photos have been re-scanned to better image quality. The update of this site has taken over a year - but I'm sure you'll agree, it was worth the effort.
