If you set the borders = 0 (in Table Properties) in the table it can be used for a page layout. This appropximates the layout I used in my Lesson Material List page.
Table Properties are set to Alignment = center; Width = 100%; Height = 100%.. This means it will cover the entire the page whatever the resolution of the viewers computer.Cell Padding is set to 5 pixels to push the text out from the edges.
Remember what you see in the table would cover your entire web page. Your web page title could be part of the table or above it. These are suggestions only. For Web Authoring Level 2 there is no need for anything too fancy.

Cell Properties
(optional) for column 2 (to our left here)
Width -5 pixels to give a look of blank space. To see this in action observe the way the list of hyperlinks is laid out in the VTOS Lesson Material page of this web site.
The text in the cells is kept apart in this example by the addition of a blank column 2. Another way to keep the text in cells apart is to increase cell padding (Table Properties) or use a combination of methods.

The columns to the left and right could be used for navigation or images or headings. | ||||
Again set borders = 0 (in Table Properties)
to see how this would layout a page. Note that columns 2
and 4 are blank and are set to be 15 pixels wide.
