Other games we play.
Gaelic football.
I play football for Loughrea. The name of my team is
"LAKESIDE MINI MARKET".
We only played four leagues last year. We won three games, and lost the penalty shootouts. I was the only one who scored in the penalties. In the fourth league, we lost the last game. The score was 5 to 2. We have training every Thursday. The name of my trainer is Pat. He has his own shop called Loughrea Mini Market.
I have lots of friends at practice. I have so many I cannot list them all. I know six players in my school. Four of them are from fourth class, and one from fifth class, and another from second class. And their names are Michael Gleese, Conor Ryan, David Burke, Gerald Murray, James Barret and myself Peter Healy. Sometimes in school we either play football or basketball. And more often we play hurling or Gaelic. And we play Rugby also. We are playing indoor soccer now, until the weather is fine. I am playing with the under tens.
We go training out the back of the temperance hall. Brian Skehill and I, Peter Healy played with the under 13`s last Thursday at five O` clock. Every Thursday we have training and we either play outside or inside. I think inside is better for me. But now my trainer Pat Kenny sent me back to under tens. I prefer to play soccer with the under 13`s. You are not allowed to be eleven our twelve to play with the under tens if you are those ages you are allowed to play with the under 13`s. You can only be ten or nine years of age to play with the under tens. In the green in Loughrea where we play outdoors we are next to the court house we broke a window of the courthouse.
My trainer Pat Kenny sells videos and we can rent videos and playstation games. Pat has a two story house it has brown bricks at the bottom and totally white at the top. He has a Vauxhall car too. Pat is a milkman. Pat has a daughter named Tara, she is 13 years of age. And he has a son named Brian, he is 7 years old. Sometimes everybody calls him Beanie, well actually everybody calls him Beanie except his father Pat, he calls him Brian.

Sports we play at school.
We play Basketball in our school. When we play we are put into groups. We play when we go to P.E class. When we play basketball we have-to play by the rules. We have teams in which we break up into, and every day we keep to the same teams, because they are split up fairly. We have six in each team.
My favourite T.V. programme with basketball is Spacejam. Spacejam is an animated film with Bugs Bunny, Lola Bunny, Sylvester and Tweet, Road Runner and Coyote, Daffy Duck and the Captain Michael Jordan in a Basketball match against the Monster. Michael Jordans team was called "Tune Squad". The good guys win in the end.

Horses and ponies
Horses and ponies colours can be many different. They can be black, grey, bay, cream, roan, chestnut, piebald and skewbald. The face markings are star, snip, blaze and stripe. Ponies and horses can be big or small. The smallest is 7 feet 10. You have to see that poisonous plans are not in the field. Horses could get sick or even die if they eat them. They are Bryony, Ragworth, and others.

In our school we play soccer.
We have four soccer fields, which we use at break time, to play different matches. We divide the soccer pitches between 5th and 6th, 3rd and 4th, 1st and 2nd, and senior infants. 5TH and 6th are having a league. This year whoever wins the league will get a cup. They will each bring in money to pay for the cup.Soccer Skills;
The Foot
Use the inside of the foot. Face the direction from which the ball is coming. Turn and raise the foot so that the inside meets s the ball at its centre line. The instep (the part of the foot covered by your bootlaces) is useful for controlling a ball, which is dropping from a height.
The Head.
Not easy so only try to control a ball travelling quite slowly –otherwise uses an attacking or defensive header.
Passing.
Use the side of the foot for short passes the instep for long driven passes and the outside of the foot for swerved and flicked passes.
Scoolyard games we play:
We play lots of games in our school. We play "lines". The way you play lines is you get white chalk and draw different lines on the ground and pick a person and that person is on. He counts to ten and the other people run around the lines. The person who is caught first, is on. The next game we play is donkey. How you play donkey is you get a ball. Only two people can play at a time. You get the ball and throw it to the other person the first person to drop it is "d" and then o and so along down the line when you reach "donkey" you're out. The next game is Mr Wolf. Pick a person and that person is Mr Wolf. When Mr Wolf says "dinner time" he turns around and he can catch any of the other people behind him. The person that he catches is on. The next game is tag. A person is on and he has to tip someone and that person is on.

Timebomb;
You need a ball. There can be 4-14 people. First you stand in a circle then you throw the ball to which ever you want. When the ball touches the ground you start counting down from 20and who ever had the ball last or who touches the ball when they come to 1 is out.
Red Rover;
There are two teams of any number of people. They stand opposite each other. One team shouts out
"Red Rover, Red Rover. Let (persons name) come over."
and then the person must try to burst through the whole other team and if they don’t get through, they must join with the other team. It is the team that finishes with most players that wins.
Letters
One person calls any letter in the alphabet and for e.g. Marie Bernadette Murray. There are three A’s and four E’s and four R’s
two M’s then for every letter that the person calls out, each person takes a jump towards the caller when a letter in their name is called out. You must stand a good few feet away from the people that you are playing with and the first person to pass the caller wins.
