Papier mache

We are doing papier mache in art and craft. The junior infants and senior infants teacher is teaching us how to do it. We got a balloon and blew it up. Then we cut paper in small bits and stuck them on with them paste. We only put the paper around half of the balloon. We put on about 4 or 5 layers. Then when it was hard we painted it white and we let it to dry, and then we painted whatever colour we wanted.

Then we needed fruit. The fruit we needed was oranges, apples and any hard fruit. You could bring in potatoes, carrot and peppers and use them for soft fruits because you cannot use soft fruits in papier mache. Then we pasted paper on the fruit and when it was hard we cut it in half and then we pasted the piece, which was open and stuck it together with sticky tape and put it together. Then when it was dry we painted it as apples, oranges, bananas, lemons and pears.

We are making woollen Easter bunnies in art and craft. We need double netting yarn 50g of white for the body and 40g of blue for dungarees and 20g of pink for the ears and you need 3 and a quarter knitting needles.

We are presently knitting in art and craft. We are knitting an octopus. We need 60g of green wool, 25g of white wool and 25g of the other colours and pink wool for it cheeks. We need three and a quarter size needles. The octopus will not be too big, it will be about as small as a hand. We are knitting a brown hat and we are putting a little bit of yellow wool hanging down. The wool that will be hanging down is supposed to be a plat.

Potato Prints;

You get a potato and half it. On one half you put any shape you like.

Then you get some paints. Now you dip the shape in the paints.

You get some paper and put the shape on the paper. Now leave it to dry.

The strings on the paper and leave it to dry and then you have string paintings

Ideal presents you can give to your family;

You go by the person’s interests if they like perfume then buy them perfume or if they like soap then get them soap. It is nice to rape it in their favourite colour paper but if you do not have raping paper then you can put it in a plastic bag.

You can buy a card but it is also nice to make a card or even make a card on the computer if you have a computer but if you don’t then you can make a card with pencils, markers or crayons.

And these are some ideas on what to get for your mother and your father, but we are going to begin with your mother.

Perfume, Chocolates, Biscuits, Soaps, Bath Foam, Bubble Bath, Earrings, Lipstick, Hair Brush, Rings, Jewellery, Chains, Eye Shadow, Nail Set, Watch

For your Father you should also go by his interests.

Party games;

Sleeping lines

One person is up and every one else lies on the ground. Every one on the ground has to stay very still and if you an inch, you’re out. However you can blink and cough. The first person to moves is up and the person who was up, may now lie on the ground.

Pass the Parcel;

First you get a little packed of sweets or a bar and put little layers of wrapping paper around it. Do a lot of them. Then get all the children into a circle. Get the parcel and give it to a child that is sitting in the circle. Start pacing it around and each child will tack a layer of wrapping paper off. Then the person who takes the last piece of paper off, gets the bar. Do this and get another parcel each time somebody wins one.

Musical chairs;

If there were four people playing, you would have three chairs. You would run around the chairs with the music. When the music stops you would try to sit down on the chair. The person who did not get a chair is out. Then you would go again, removing one chair as each person is eliminated until all the others are out but one person, and the person remaining wins.
