My neighbour has an ostrich farm .He started up this new kind of farming when he retired from his carpentry job about five years ago .The first thing he had to do was to decide which breed of ostrich to have. There are 3 kinds these are; Black and blue and red necks. There are two main differences between then, their temperament and the amount of meat on each bird. A24 mouths old hen lays about 10 eggs.

Ostrich farming may be new to Ireland but not to so in south Africa where a thriving industry has been built up over 100 years to meet an ever increasing world demand for healthy meat, the finest leather and exquisite feathers. Ostrich farming is a viable alternative for those farmers wishing to diversify. There is a huge established and under-supplied world market for ostrich products. A pair of birds; 1 male, 1 female, can produce at least 30 offspring per year. They live up to 75 years, reproduce for more than 40 years, and requre relatively little land.

The months of spring are February, March and April. The number of daylight hours increases during spring and most spring days have higher temperatures then winter days. Lambs are jumping all around. Nature awakens in spring, when flowers bloom and hibernating animals leave their winter sleeping places. Birds begin to sing and begin to build their nests. The days are getting hotter and the floods start to disappear. I like spring because I can go cycling and play with my dog. We are just coming into spring now and in spring when we are going to school we can see lots of rabbits in the fields.

Our School Tour;
Last year on June 19th we went on our School tour to
Roscrea Heritage Centre, Dunmore Caves, the grounds of Kilkenny Castle and on our way home we called into Jerpoint Abbey.
Dunmore Cave is one of Irelands most interesting Limestone Caves. First mentioned in the 9th Century Irish Trades. It is a site of Viking Message in 928. Coins found in the cave date from 897 to 926.
The 13th Century Roscrea Stone Castle consists of Gate Tower curtain walls and two Corner Towers. In the Castle Courtyard stands the 18th Century Queen Anne Style Damer House. The site is managed in conjunction with the Roscrea Heritage Society.
I went on holidays up to Belfast last summer. I like Belfast. It is hot sometimes. I went to the beach. There were a lot of rocks there. We went fishing on a ship we went to a place where you can see every kind of animal in the ocean. Then we went to the shopping centre. We went on a type of seat and it brought us through a tunnel and it was all about Jesus. My uncle’s name is Tom and my aunt’s name is Patricia. She has too sons one called Michael and the other called James. Michael is the oldest and James is only one month old.

Lisa and her pony Bob.
Horses in Kilchreest. There are about 50 horses in Kilchreest. There are farmers in our area with racehorses. Most farmers in Kilchreest keep horses for hunting, show jumping, racing and dressage.
Hunting is a good sport but it can be dangerous. Sometimes people can break their neck and legs. But there is a children's hunt and it is safe because there is small wall’s and they go slow and there are other hunt’s some are in Clare and Wicklow and lots more in the world. There is a Kilchreest hunt that is the best hunt of the year. The kind of horse you should hunt is a "hunter horse" which is a strong an even-tempered horse who does not scare easily.

Dear old Galway Road
I am an exiled Irishman
Far, far away from home
Compelled by English tyranny
‘Neath foreign skies to roam
Though ‘neath Columbia’s glories stars
I’ve taken my abode
My heart flies back with longing love.
To dear old Galway road.
Though humble was the cottage roof,
Beneath which I was born,
And though no costly luxuries,
Our table did adorn,
The fire of hospitality
Upon the hearth stone glowed,
And we never turned the poor away,
In dear Old Galway road.
How fondly in my memory dwells,
Each well beloved scene,
The groves beside the schoolhouse,
And the gardens by the green,
The fertile vales where joyous spring,
Her earliest blossoms showered,
Amongst the fragrant flowering trees,
That bloom round Galway Road.
A radiant vision rises now,
Before my tear dimmed gaze,
The mountains woods and meadows,
Where I spent my boyhood days,
The blue lakes tranquil bosom
Where I often swam and rowed,
And the waving golden cornfields,
That smile round Galway road.
My great grandfather was a Captain in the British Army and he retired at 39 years of age. He opened the American Bar in Kilronan on the Aran Islands. He started the first lifeboat service aon the island. It was just Curragh boat with an engine and about three volunteers. After about Nine mouths three fishermen got marooned off Bronnoch Island off the North side of Inis Mór. The lifeboat was called out, but was unable to get near them due to the rocks. My great-grandfather bravely swam in to rescue two of them, and on his way in for the third man, the shrapnel wounds that he had from the first world the man contracted water and he drowned. Every body on the island attended the funeral. His name was captain A.J. Smith M.C
Marie Louise.
The Snare
1
I hear a sudden cry of pain!
There is a rabbit in a snare;
Now I hear the cry again,
But I cannot tell from where
2
But I cannot tell from where.
He is calling out for aid;
Crying on the frightened air,
Making everything afraid.
3
Making everything afraid,
Wrinkling up his little face,
As he cries again for aid;
And I cannot find the place!
4
And I cannot find the place
Where his paw is in the snare;
Little one! Oh little one!
I am searching everywhere.

Beech Tree
1
I planted in February.
A bronze- leafed beech,
In the chill brown soil,
I spread out its silken fibres.
2
Protected it from the goats
With wire netting
And fixed it firm against
The worrying wind.
3
Now it is safe,I said,
April must stir
My precious baby.
To greenful lovelines.
4
It is August now, I have hoped
But I hope no more-
My beech tree will never hide sparrows
From hungry hawks.
