 Our School

Our School is called St.Cormacs B.N.S after St.Cormac.
The original boys school was situated at the edge of St. Cormac’s Park . In 1943 a new school was built on the Ballyboy Road. The site was originally owned by the Sweeney family. The school  was officially opened  on 13-3-1944 . On  that day, 42 out of  43 pupils attended the school. It was blessed by Rev. John O Connor  and the principal was Michael Keary, with Mrs. Colgan as his assistant. The building consisted of  two rooms.
A new extension  was built in the 1970’s ,and  the original  building  became the school hall.
The school  now has three classrooms ,an office , remedial room, and a small kitchen. Currently ,
year 2001 ,there are 42 pupils on the roll from 2nd class to 6th class. There are two teachers, Mr. Kenny (Principal) and Mrs. Cooney.  In 1999 the school bought 3 computers, and these are now used in our computer room.
