Kilfenora Ceili Band History

The Band can follow its roots back into the last century. Music was an important feature of life for many in the rural North Clare hamlet in the late 1800s. Kilfenora boasted a fine fife and drum band at the time which later gave way to an accomplished brass and reed band. Many of the foreign melodies from these bands’ material are still around today - pieces which are unique to the Kilfenora tradition, little gems from that era which nestle in the repertoires of the older musicians.
