Kilmacow is situated just three miles from Waterford City and has a population of about 1,500 people. Kilmacow is the most southern club in County Kilkenny.

In the early months of 1991, Kilkenny County Development Officer Tom McDonald targeted the southern part of the county for new Macra Clubs. Without his work and that of founding members Kilmacow Macra would not exist today.

Kilmacow Macra Na Feirme was founded on the 12th of November 1991. Over the past ten years the club has grown from strength to strength. Currently the club has 43 members. The club participates in practically all Macra competitions and has a strong profile in the local community.
