DINNER DANCE: The annual Kilmoyley hurling club dinner dance will take place in the Ballygarry House Hotel on Saturday, January 22. This was a game where Kilmoyley got off to a great start being 1-3 to 0-0 up after ten minutes but Midleton hit back and Kilmoyley led at half time by six points. However this lead was cut to two points, following a long range free which landed in the back of the Kilmoyley net. Kilmoyley moved up a gear and were to get the vital scores to win the game with some ease. U21’S - Our U21’s have qualified for the county U21 final with a hard earned victory by 3-7 to 1-12 played in Ballyheigue on Monday last. This was a game played with great intensity by both teams and the sides ended up at half time level. The second half saw Kilmoyley take the lead but Ballyduff were to take control with four unanswered points, but Kilmoyley replied with a great goal by Sean Maunsell to draw things level. Kilmoyley then got a point from play to lead briefly, but Ballyduff replied with a well taken goal which looked like a match winning score. However it did not end there, one last Kilmoyley attack saw Sean Maunsell after getting a great pass from Jake Doherty evade two defenders to squeeze the sliothar between the Ballyduff goalkeeper and the post for the lead for Kilmoyley. A lead which they held until the final whistle. U15’S - Our U15’s have qualified for the NK U15 final against Ardfert. GAA: In what turned out to be a very disappointing day for the club, the senior hurlers were eliminated from the Munster club championship by Tomevarra on Sunday. It is hard to know how good the opposition was because our lads never got started. After three previous attempts to win a game in this competition, hopes were high that this was to be the day. A good sized crowd turned out on a fine afternoon expecting a strong challenge from Kilmoyley but it was not to be and the game just fizzled out to end. The team has a chance to bounce back next Saturday when the Munster league quarter-final game against Midleton will be played. The game starts at 3pm but unfortunately the locals will have to make the long trip to Midleton for the game. Being the defending champions, Kilmoyley will be all out to make the semi-final of this year’s competition. GAA: The Munster club c’ship game between Kilmoyley and Toomevara has been brought forward by a week, and will be played in Lerrig on Sunday next, October 17. Kilmoyley played the same opposition last year in Thurles. Having played very well for a long period, Kilmoyley eventually ran out of steam. With home advantage and the experience of the last three years to help, it is expected that the Tipp champions will get good reason to remember the trip to Lerrig. |
