COUNTY LEAGUE FINAL DEFEAT

Senior County League Final 2002

Kilmoyley 1-6     Ballyheigue 1-12

Kilmoyley failed to reproduce the form that saw them win their 18th County title a fortnight earlier, when they were defeated by Ballyheigue at Austin Stacks park on Sunday 13th October. Having played poorly in the first half Kilmoyley still only trailed by three points 1-6 to 0-6. Within five minutes Kilmoyley had drawn level thanks to an opportunist goal by Billy Brick. But amazingly this was to be Kilmoyley's final score of the match. Ballyheigue went on to add a further six points.

It was a disappointing performance by Kilmoyley, but on the day the Ballyheigue players showed more hunger and determination and deserved their win. For Kilmoyley, it was certainly a wake up call in advance of the Munster QF clash with Blackrock and hopefully one from which they will learn. If not a drubbing could be on the cards.
