The Haunted House Prologue This is a story about my four friends and I going to a haunted house. The haunted house is in Wales. It stands at the bottom of a hill and there are no other houses nearby. My four friends are: Amy. Amy is 13 years old. She goes to secondary school and is intelligent and attractive. Martin. Martin is 14 years of age. He is one of the best athletes in his school. He is not as smart as me. Paul. Paul age 12 also a student intelligent and attractive. All the girls hang around him. His wants to be a stunt man in films and on TV. Ruth- Ruth is age 13, also in school. She wants to be a model, she is clever and kind. Michael. Me- I am 14 years old. My friends call me Chip because I like working with computers. I am small, and not very handsome! Paul was reading the newspaper when he noticed an ad. The ad. read "Come to a haunted house in Wales to stay for a weekend. Your reward will be €1,000,000 if you survive. Paul thought this was a great idea for an adventure. He rang his four best friends and asked us would we be interested in coming to a haunted house. "Yes of course" we all replied. I said, "that is just what we need, something to put the hair standing on our head." Amy thought this would be a great way of getting some easy money. We asked our parents could we go and they agreed. They gave us money for the weekend. Saturday came and Paul's mother drove us to the bus station. We said, " goodbye", to Paul's mother. We jumped out of the car, the bus was waiting. We all loaded our bags on to the bus. The bus soon left the station. We were all excited. Paul smirked and looked at all of us. Then turning to me he said, "are you looking forward to this weekend," I replied, "it will be different than others weekends." Ruth said, "I'm slightly nervous. I don't know what to expect." The bus finally stopped at the ship. The ship was big and it was like a hotel on water. We had to check in for the ship. The Captain announced that we were going to be dropped off at Pembroke in Wales. We walked onto the ship and we put our luggage into a cabin and then we looked around the ship. We found a restaurant so we could have something to eat and drink. At six o clock we watched the television and it was the news. It showed the haunted house in Wales. We watched with great interest. It said, "The haunted house is spooky and scary." I said, "I don't believe in ghosts." Paul and Martin agreed. The reporter was talking about the €1,000,000 and said, "no-one has succeeded in staying 48 hours in the house." |

The ship was about to dock and we got off. We got on to a bus and Ruth asked the driver how long would it take to get into the village. The driver replied and said, "we will be there in ten minutes." Soon the bus stopped at a shop in the village and we had to get out quickly. I went in to the shop and asked the lady where the haunted house was. She replied, "just down the road," We went down to the house and the gates were locked. Ruth pressed the bell and the caretaker came out. He was dressed in black from head to toe. He soon opened the gates and we all walked in. I told Ruth to look back and she turned around but the caretaker was gone. She said, "this place is weird. He must be a ghost." Paul walked in the front door and the caretaker was there. Our 48 hours started at midnight. We looked around the house. Every room was dark and dusty. At 9:00 o' clock we had to go to our rooms but we were so scared. Paul asked the caretaker why had we to go to our rooms. He said, "Just go to bed." We went. We were bored. We watched television. The bell rang when our 48hours started. We all went asleep. About 2:00am the girls could hear noises. They thought it was the wind outside. The noises were becoming louder every minute. They went downstairs to see was the caretaker there but he was gone home. They tried to go back to bed but they were scared. Eventually they found their room. At seven o' clock the caretaker just came in the door. We woke up. We came down for our breakfast. After that we talked and we talked about the house. The girls told us that they had heard noises but they agreed that the night wasn't too bad. They said, "It was a bit scary." On Sunday we weren't allowed to go outside. At three o' clock we all went for a walk in the house. The house was cold. That took us up to 6 o' clock. We had two hours till we had to go to our rooms. We watched television and we had time to talk. At eight o' clock the caretaker told us we had to go to our rooms. The second night began and noises were even louder. The two girls ran out of the house and they rang a taxi. The taxi brought them back to the ship and they sailed back to Ireland. We slept through the night and heard nothing. When we got up next morning the caretaker told us that the girls had left and that we were the winners. We were rich and famous and we were proud of ourselves. We had a great celebration all the way back to Ireland!! |
