A Message from the Principal, Barbara Hanamy.

Welcome to Kinnitty National School Web-Site. Let me tell you about our school. Kinnitty National School is a co-educational, Catholic primary school which strives to provide a well-ordered, caring, happy and secure atmosphere where the intellectual, spiritual, physical, moral and cultural needs of the pupils are identified and addressed. While Kinnitty National School is a school with Catholic ethos, it also has due recognition for all other religions. Kinnitty N.S. will strive to promote, both individually and collectively, the professional and personal development of teachers through staff development programmes. We will also encourage the involvement of parents through home/school contacts and their involvement in the Kinnitty National School Parents Association.

Kinnitty National School will endeavour to enhance the self esteem of everyone in the school community, to imbue in the pupils respect for people and property and to encourage in them the idea of being responsible. the school will also promote gender equality amongst the teachers, staff and pupils.

The aims of the school.

Our aims for the pupils of the school:

1. To provide a challenging yet supportive environment to stimulate, maintain and develop a lively enquiring mind.

2. To encourage all pupils to reach their true potential and eventually become leaders who value learning with and from others.

3. To value application, perseverance, initiative, independence of thought and action and co-operation.

4. To develop in pupils a sense of moral values which can form a framework for a sense of self-worth and relationships with others, so that pupils can become responsible members of society.

5. To develop in pupils a positive attitude towards themselves with a strong sense of self respect.

6. To develop a sense of respect for others, their property, ideas and beliefs irrespective of gender, race, disability, academic achievement etc.

7. To appreciate human achievements, failures and aspirations.

8. To develop positive attitudes towards and concern for the environment.

• To offer a broad based curriculum in order to facilitate the aquisition of knowledge, promote enjoyment in learning and to provide knolwledge and skills to equip pupils for work and leisure as active, confident and responsible members of a rapidly developing society.

Our aims regarding the community:

• To develop a school community which affords equal value to all its members, is seen to be just and encourage mutual respect, concern for others and truthfulness.
• To foster close relationships between the school, pupil's homes and the local community.

Details of our school uniform.

Girls Uniform:

Navy jumper or cardigan. Pale blue blouse or polo-shirt. Knee lenght navy pinafore or knee-lenght navy skirt.

Plain navy tights or socks. 1 pair of soft indoor shoes, indoor shoes must be plain canvas in navy or black. Bedroom slippers are not to be worn as indoor shoes.

Girls may wear plain navy tracksuit bottoms from Halloween to the end of April only. Parents are asked to print their child's name clearly on all items of clothing and footwear so that mislaid items can be easily identified.

Boys uniform:

Navy jumper. Pale blue shirt or polo-shirt. Plain grey trousers - not tracksuit bottoms

1 pair of soft indoor shoes, indoor shoes must be plain navy or black canvas, not bedroom slippers. Parents are asked to print their child's name clearly on all items of clothing and footwear so that mislaid items can be easily identified.
