Alternative Energy Station

Killarney National Park Education Centre has set up an area within the centre which we are describing as an ENERGY STATION. This area has posters on Energy, permanent Alternative Energy displays and Energy Activities which will allow children visiting the centre to focus on Energy Matters and to reinforce what they are learning in school about Energy. This will aim to bring home to them uses of energy, energy sources, renewable energy and how best the earth's energy needs can be addressed in the future.

The permanent energy displays are

A Wind Turbine

This will show children how the energy from the wind can be used to sound a buzzer, light a light and turn on a motor

A Solar Unit

This will let children observe how solar energy can heat up water, sound a buzzer, light a LED and work a motor.

  A Solar Fountain

This will show Solar Energy in action operating a fountain.
