Bat Box Workshops

In order to highlight the importance of Irish Bats and their conservation, and to
mark European Year of the Bat, the centre ran a number of bat box workshops.
These involved a slide-show/ talk about bats and their ecology, and then
participants got their hammers and screwdrivers out to assemble their bat boxes.
The wood was provided by Killarney National Park, and precut into the correct
pieces for ease of construction. Some of the boxes were taken away to be erected
in participants' gardens and the rest will be erected close to the Education Centre,
where they can be monitored for bat activity.

Boys Brigade, Tralee (1st Company ) visited the centre and made their boxes on Dec. 1st.
