The evening kicked off with a visit to MacDonalds. Chinook Bear accompanied us. Photographer Susan Kennedy came and took a few photographs of the class with Chinook and then we walked to the Savoy Cinema on Dublin's O'Connell Street. O'Connell Street is the main street that goes through the centre of Dublin. On the evening of 6th November, fans and celebreties from the world of showbusiness crowded into the Savoy Cinema for the gala opening of Harry Potter - the Chanber of Secrets. Many eyes were on Samantha Mumba, but not for long as it was Harry Potter's night to shine. A few of us were interviewed for Radio One's 'Morning Ireland'. Gerry Ryan (a 2FM radio presenter) warmly welcomed the two stars from the Harry Potter sequel - Devon Murray, who plays Séamus Finnegan and Jamie Waylott, who plays Crabbe. The late Richard Harris was not forgotten as he was warmly remembered by everyone in the cinema.
The movie was a great success. It was funnier, scarier and a lot more action packed than the first movie.
We are very greatful to Susan Kennedy for helping us acquire the much sought after tickets for this show and in particular to Irish film censor Séamus Smith for making it happen.
