We
decided to recycle stamps as part of our Green Schools initiative last term
and donate them to the Irish Peatland Conservancy Council.
They in turn use the money earned to promote awareness into the state of our
bogs. Our bogs are rich in plant and wildlife and sadly these unique habitats
are disappearing at an alarming rate. There are ways that we could cut down
on our use and over reliance on peat and this organisation - based in Capel
Street - is raising money to try to show us that there is another way.
The IPCC turn used stamps into money to help save Irish bogs. All stamps are very welcome. They get made up into packs for sale in IPCC's Enviro Shop or are sold in bulk in Ireland to stamp dealers. Last year €5,000 worth of stamps were sold for IPCC.
Please note that when taking the stamps off the envelopes, please try to leave a 1 cm border around the stamp.
