Well, we are back…………….with a bang and some balls!
Footie season is well under way!

Seniors ….4th 5th & 6th ………..are training every Tuesday in Meadowvale after school and there has been many a stiff limb since we started back……….. Many a stiff back for Mums on the side lines too! The radox has been walking off the shelves in the supermarkets!!! At least though, the weather has been on our side………………….so far!

It's all go and we are hoping to get in a few friendly matches now once we have our first inter school meeting this week……….

We have a new crew on board and our total squad is less than last year which leaves us pretty tight for two teams. (No one is allowed get injured or sick!!) For the moment the guys will be juggled around & there will be some switching and moving done by those wonderful coaches we have - Cormac & Justin! We leave it in their more than capable hands …………

We hope it’s a good season and the boys enjoy it, please make sure they all have shin guards & football boots…………..

Juniors are back training on Saturday mornings in Meadowvale, until the weather changes !

Cian scored our second goal with excellent mid fielders Sam, Alex and John W backing him up and then Matthew P our captain made a break, dodged past two Taney players and slotted in goal number 3 !!!!!

Robert B and Eoin were our forwards and Eoin was outstanding in his tackles and breaks up the wing !! Our last goal of the day was scored by Robert B who was on the end of a fantastic cross from Sam !!!

    FOOTBALL CLUB UPDATE!

Well…………………….. In case you missed the HIGHLIGHT of the week (on the football scene anyway…………………)WE WON!! WE WON!!! WE WON!! WE WON!! ..BOTH teams!!!!!
It was fantastic! Great start to the season and a confidence booster all round!
It also was a fab day with the sun shining…….That keeps us on the side line even happier!!! Gosh will they all be like this I wonder??!!

We missed Cormac who sadly couldn’t make it BUT Justin
(Our Alex!) Coped fantastically ………….. The D.O.C. helped us out with reffing one team and Shane S did a superb job reffing the other team…… THANK YOU GUYS !

    Line up for Team 1 was…. And in no particular order!!!... Omar A, Robbie B , Gavin B ,Aaron C, John C, Fionn F,Jack L Gavin M, Josh P, Chris W, Ben AS, Jonah B & Isaac H. We forgot to appoint a Captain …………oops !!

Taney was the opposition; kick off was 3 .30 ………… Play got going & despite fantastic defending from the four musketeers at the back Gavin B John & Josh, Isaac………………. & Omar in goals…………Taney clinched an early goal………… BUT spirits were high and we got stuck back in quickly & Aaron got a super goal……….1-1…..Most of the play was down at Taney’s goal for the first half and we had a few shots that just couldn’t get home…………..Great play from Ben , Fionn, Chris , Jonah & Jack up front …………… HARD WORK PAYS OFF !!! & Fionn got a little beauty to give us a 2-1 lead……….
Play worked both ends of the field then giving all the kids a good run around for their first match of the season! Lots of puffing & panting! (Mums on the side lines as well……….We were out of practise too !! )

A break then & Justin did his “managers “bit on the side line via mobile phone to
Adrienne!! He substituted Ben A & Isaac H for Robbie B & Gavin M ………..Giving all the lads a good part of the game, both had a great run & played fantastically ….
A corner then for us which Chris took beautifully (spin on the ball!) and WOW headed home by Aaron into the back of the net……..would he get a hat trick???!! Shrieks of delight were heard all over meadow vale! 3 - 1………. Great excitement everywhere and brilliant play by all the guys………
Taney fought on though it really was close …………….

Another call from the manager who really was “double jobbing “on Wednesday with
two teams ! A few more changes & play continued down at our goal despite fighting back from Omar in Black & the boys in “Blue & Yellow “!!
A break then from Jack (who had come injured from school ! ) took play up our end of the pitch. He passed it to Chris who got a cracking little goal to make it 4-1………….Just about Full Time and waiting for the whistle to blow when Taney got a super goal that slipped into the net after major tackling ….( Bit hard to see what was going on!! )
Well played boys it’s was a great win!! FINAL SCORE 4-2
We think we might do a goal of the month competition for both teams ……………………..so ……………………………………………….WATCH this space !!
Thanks to the parents for help & those who took the kits home !

FOOTBALL CLUB UPDATE! - Tuesday 24th October

    All Saints v Kill-O-The Grange

Well another glorious day……………….. on the weather front anyway!!  Sun splitting the skies & standing on the side line in Avondale (All Saints home ground) was a very pleasant experience………..!

We were down to 12 men……… not much room for injuries!

     Squad. In no particular order:

     Omar in goals…… Robbie B ,Gavin B, Aaron C, John C, Fionn F, Jack L, Gavin M, Josh P, Chris W, Ben AS, Jonah B .

We were delighted to have Cormac back on the side line doing his manager bit...

Kick Off was 3 pm……….. All Saints got an early goal (what’s new we all said!)Kill fought on and we had spectacular saves from Omar. Fantastic defending from John, Gavin B, Ben & Jack...

We had great attempts to get the ball into the  back of the net from all the guys midfield and upfront ………. Robbie, Aaron, Fionn, Gavin M, Chris & Jonah…

It just wasn’t to be our day though and no matter how well we played or how hard we defended All Saints’ just kept getting those balls right on home !!

Just before the half time whistle………….. we got a big break that was taken down the pitch …………A pass from Chris & Fionn aimed and hit the post and Jack got it on the rebound and promptly hit it home into that net………….. What a cheer from the side line!! Finally a goal for us !!

With a few minor injuries Cormac did his juggling bit & swapped a few players around

We fought on & on but All Saints kept scoring  … we lost count at 4. 1!!

Anyway we battled on, never gave up ……………… & another break came with a general melee around the goal area …… various shots from the guys up front that was finally put out

of its misery and found its way to the back of the net on the end of Jacks boot!

All Saints won AGAIN! But eh it’s only a game AND we move on!

Final score …….???? Who knows…..But as they say ….

what goes on tour…………….. stays on tour!

Thanks to the parents for support, Cormac for his coaching and Ro for taking the kits home!

Sorry for delay in getting these reports up but there were technical difficulties all round!!

FOOTBALL CLUB UPDATE! - Tuesday 13th November

Lis Na Oig v Kill-O-The Grange

Squad in no particular order! Conor W in goals, Matthew P (Capt) Samith P,

     Kevin B, Alex BK, Ben AS, Cian F. Isaac H, Jonah B, Robert M, Sam G, Robert B, Aidan H & Eoin O’C..

We all missed John W & wish him a SPEEDY RECOVERY!!

Team 2 from Kill gave a Trojan performance against Lis Na Oig, considering the opposing team was predominately made up of 6th Class and the biting cold wind that cut through the pitch at Meadowvale.

There were some pretty frozen mums and Dads at the sidelines too!

Dermot, as usual, brought his talent as ref to the match with great aplomb.

Corporal Cormac and Captain Justin as usual were great task masters and kept the lads on their toes!!  All their tough training, laps etc paid off and Kill played brilliantly considering the opposition was a tough team and it was freezing, no matter how much running around the pitch you did!

Although Lis Na Oig scored the first goal early seconds into the first half, it did nothing to dampen Kill’s spirits and they threw themselves into the match from the very beginning.  Matthew, team captain did a great job and it was a tough one at times!  But the sheer determination from Kill was a joy to watch!  For starters, Conor was a brilliant goalie.  He threw himself (quite literally) into the position of goalie and boy it was a quite close call a couple of times from the opposition.  We had some fantastic determined playing.  Eoin was in there like a little tornado, totally undaunted by the 6th class guys on both teams, Samith and Alex played great defence.  Isaac got in there with some brilliant tackling.  At one stage during the early part of the 2nd half, it looked like Robert (4th class) was going to score the first goal for Kill, bad luck, it just missed.  But he went on shortly after to score the first goal! Good on you Robert! Well it looked like we were getting into the swing of it, when Matthew followed suite with a brilliant 2nd goal and then, yes, wait for it, Jonah went on to score the third and final goal of the match! Well done Jonah!

Robert (5th class) got in there a good few times and tackled well, he took a few tumbles but hey, he bounced back.

Cian, as usual played a blinder, he managed to get the ball down the pitch and pass brilliantly to Jonah or Robert

(4 th) for onward goal!  Endless determination Cian! Great sportsmanship!

Ben played some great footie of the match today and played super mid field defence.

Aidan and Kevin really brought their talents into the fore as well for Kill and are great role models for the younger team players!

The subs were great, we had Jonah going on for Cian, Ben going on for Matthew, and Aidan on for Isaac.  Although the opposition had a few big lads, we matched them hands down with our guys! Sam and Sammith, along with Ben made it look so easy kicking the ball so far down the pitch.

Unfortunately, the final result was 8 – 3 to Lis Na Oig, Kill played a blinder.  They kept in there, they never waned, and their sheer tenacity and team spirit was a winner!

The only thing missing for Kill were the cheerleaders!  As for Lis Na Oig, they had three, who sang from the sidelines. You know what Kill, maybe that’s what’s missing!   Now there’s an idea girls!

Thanks to the Coaches, the ref and Ro G. for taking home the kit!

Kill o’ the Grange vs. All Saints

    23rd November 2007

Squad : in no particular order !

    Omar in goals, Robbie B, Gavin B, Aaron C, John C, Fionn F, Jack L, Gavin M, Josh P ( Capt),Matthew P, Chris W, Ben AS, Jonah B, Sam G , Robert B

Kill put in a great performance against All Saints on Friday November 23rd – almost exactly a month after they had been convincingly beaten by the same side.

The match started at a fast pace, with Robbie, Josh, John and Sam (on his debut) defending well for Kill and our forwards making a few good attacks in the opposition half.  After 15 minutes, All Saints scored directly off a corner – Omar had little chance of saving the ball as it swung straight into the goal.  A few good attacking moves in the next few minutes paid off, with Fionn scoring from a great pass from Chris.  Kill kept the pressure on for the rest of the first half, with a couple of great runs up the wing from Fionn, Gavin B. and Aaron.  Our mid field players, Ben, Jack and Gavin played really well, stopping their forwards from making any concerted attacking moves.  At half time, with the score at 1 all, Kill could be really proud of their first half performance.

Just one minute into the second half, a brilliant individual run by the All Saints No.5 put them ahead 2-1 – there was little our defence could have done to stop the goal.  Unfortunately, five minutes later, another goal by the All Saints No. 5 left the score 3 –1.  Kill fought back well, with some great passing between Robert and Chris, and Jonah getting some great ball on the wing.  Matthew and Sam kept solid in defence, and Omar had a great game, making a few difficult saves.

About 10 minutes before the end, Robert had a great shot at goal, missing by inches. Very shortly after this, All Saints managed to get through and score another goal, but Kill fought on with determination, with Gavin M and Gavin B playing great in mid field.  With 5 minutes to go, Kill were awarded a free kick.  John's kick sailed over the wall and was hammered home by Robert.  Just before the final whistle, Jack had a great shot at goal, but it narrowly missed.

Well done Kill – they fought to the end

     Final score – Kill 2 – All Saints 4

Big thanks to Justin for managing, coaching & basically being so multi talented …..!..........& to our  Ref for the day Alan whose name we have now chalked down for further matches !

Thank to A for taking home the kits…

Next match, Team 1 Tuesday 4th Dec, Meadowvale. Kick off 3 pm, come & support us !!

    Conor W in goals, Samith P, Gavin M, Sam G, Kevin B, Alex BK, Jonah B, Matthew P, Ben A, Eoin O’C, Robert B, Isaac H, Aidan H

Kill put in a great performance against Taney on

    Tuesday, 11th December 2007.

Kick Off was 3 pm……….. Taney got their first goal 10 minutes into the match.  Kill fought on and we had spectacular saves from Conor.

We had great attempts to get the ball into the back of the net from all the guys midfield and upfront ………

Eoin, Robert, Jonah, Gavin, Matthew & Ben

Fantastic defending from Sammith, Kevin, Alex & Sam...

It just wasn’t to be our day though and no matter how well we played or how hard we defended Taney just kept on rippling the back of our net and managed to score some well taken goals!

Just before the half time whistle we had yet another great save by Conor leaving us 3 nil down at half time.

At half time Justin did his juggling bit & swapped a few players around bringing on Isaac & Aidan.

Kill kept the pressure on for second half, with a couple of great runs up the wing from Eoin, Robert & Aidan.

Alex and Sam did well in defence, and Conor had an outstanding game, thwarting many of Taneys numerous attacks.

Kill fought back well, with some great passing between Gavin, Matthew, Ben and Jonah getting some great ball on the wing.

Well done Kill – they fought to the end

Final score …….???? Who knows….. and Who cares???

     Kill football club match Report

     30th January

      Team 1 V’S Rathmichael

Despite the bad weather Team 1’s  first match of the season went ahead last Wednesday…. (We were all delighted????!!!!) With Mums huddled on the side line in thermals and the boys on the pitch fighting hard … A lovely way to spend a Wednesday afternoon!!

     Squad in no particular order:

     Omar in Goals. Robbie B, Gavin B, Aaron C ,John C, Fionn F, Jack  L ,Matthew P, Chris W, Alex BK , Ben A, Sam G, Robert B

Kill Senior Boys football team played Rathmichael in their first League match of the season on 30th  January at Meadowvale. For much of the game the sides were evenly matched. Kill fought hard against a determined Rathmichael team and didn't give up despite the halftime score of 3-0. Some great defending held the final score to 4-0 and only the Rathmichael 'keeper stopped Kill getting the ball into the net .A fantastic attempt by Chris that only JUST missed the back of the net .....  Coach Justin was very pleased with the way the boys kept trying despite not having had match experience for quite a few weeks due to the bad weather and holidays..Justin cited Robbie as 'Man of the Match!!

Big thanks to Justin;  all those brave Mums for the support, Ro for taking home the kit, the Mum who did the match report &  Alan for reffing ! Without all of these people the football would not happen!!

    Eoin O’Connor, Robert B, Isaac H ,Robert M.

     Kick off was 3 pm

Weather was favourable for those on the side line …. If a little soft on the ground for the players!!!!

Kill got off to a good start with great defending from Samith, Kevin & Robert M. After some great saves from Conor W, St Killians got their first goal after about 15 mins.

Kill were not put off and had some good shots at goal taken by Cian, Gavin, Isaac & Robert

Midfielders worked very well with John, Aidan, and Matthew & Eoin making some good clearances keeping the pressure off the backs. Despite this we conceded another goal before half time.

Sam C C did a fantastic job and was commended for his good temperament & knowledge by the St Killians Coach (well done Sam!)

Robert B came on after ten minutes for Samith.. Kill played very well in the second half creating a lot of corners taken by Cian and Robert but to no avail.

The boys kept their pressure on and it was an even game.

Even with the good defending and hard work by Kill, St Killians battled thought getting their 3rd goal.. But our lads kept going and didn’t give up even after a missed penalty kick by St Killians !

We fought back to score a cracking  goal by Cian after a great run up the field by Gavin

    MATCH REPORT

    KILL VS LIS NA NÓG

    5th FEBRUARY 08

Omar in goals, Robbie B, Gavin B, Aaron C, John C, Fionn F, Jack L,
    Chris W, Ben AS, Jonah B, Sam G, Alex B K sp;

Well luckily we got away with it today weather wise! Black clouds loomed and happily they stayed away until going home time and it was even warm standing in the sunshine…. At last!!

We finally kicked off a little after 3.00 due to some confusion in the colours of both team. .. Olwen though came to the rescue and found hockey bibs for Kill to wear.  Thanks Olwen! These were worn for the first half but the Opposition requested us to take them off, as it was a little confusing for them.   But this did’nt worry us whatsoever!!

Gavin B was captain for this one.  Well done Captain!  Well what a match – It has to have been our best yet and yes we won 5 .. 1! Some fantastic play by our Team 1, by all players.  Great defence by John C; Robbie; Sam; blocking all the opponents going through.   Great tackles by Robbie and yes we got our first goal by Gavin B – what a cracker, moving on swiftly and I mean swiftly Fionn chased up the field to give us another goal, from a great pass from Chris, which unfortunately hit the post, but Fionn pounced the ball into the back of the net.   More Action from Ben, sticking with his opponent and great passing again by John, Jack and Jonah, back up the pitch again,  Fionn, in the right place for yet another two more goals!   A hat trick, can you believe it?!!!  Omar did great in saving some shots at us….and as for Alex B.K…. what a tackler – I’d be afraid myself.  Even the ref was impressed with him!

3..0 at half time with some glucose for the boys and a quick chat from the Coach and we’re off again.   Determined to win the game, off Kill go with great zest!   Not giving anything away, tackling was excellent, players marked at all times.  Kill did not give them any hope.  But thankfully they did get a goal, as one supporting parent said on the sideline “Come on, just one goal, please”!

And then we finished it off with more kicking down the pitch and connecting to the right players, Fionn galloped up again to give Kill yet another score! Final score 5-1 !!

Big thanks to our Ref: Alan! Who once again did a fantastic job….The supporting parents, and Josh there cheering his team on.  And of course not forgetting our wonderful  Coach, Justin! A nice relieved look on his face at last!

Also Big Thanks the” Reporting Mum”… it aint easy that’s  for sure but great for the kids to have it all up on the web !!   Big Thanks to Siddy for taking home the Kit for Team 1 & Jane for taking home the Kit for Team 2!

    4th Class Girls Hockey Tournament

    St Andrews College

The fourth Class tournament was held on Thursday 7th February in St Andrews College.  The girls hockey team left Kill at 1.00pm and arrived at the pitches in St Andrews College excited and full of enthusiasm. The members of the girls' team were Laura (Captain), Nicola, Hannah, Hope, Rachel, Danielle, Stephanie and Jenny.

The first game was against Taney N.S. and having held them in the first half, sadly the opposition scored twice to win 2-0. We did better in the second match against St Gerards. The girls played brilliantly and the game ended in a scoreless draw.

Next we played Whitechurch, who unfortunately also proved too strong, the score 2-0. In our final game we achieved victory beating Wyvern 1-0 a super goal scored by Laura, to end a most enjoyable sunny afternoon of sport.

It was lovely to see so many Kill parents on the side-line cheering the girls on.

Well done to the girls and their captain Laura.

     Match Report Friday 22nd Feb

    Meadowvale, K.O 1.30 pm

    V’S ALL SAINTS

Well in case you didn’t hear the roars of excitement coming from the lungs & vocal chords of all those spectators on
the side lines of the pitch last Friday….. we are about to fill you in!!

We might as well have won the FA Cup Trophy above, the win was so fantastic, our first EVA’ against All Saints!!
    WHAT A VICTORY!

      Squad in no particular order!!

Goal: Omar. Left Back Alex B.K, C .Back John C & Sam G, RtBack
Robbie Centre Mid Jack & Ben

    Left mid Gavin B / Jonah B RT mid Aaron/ Robert B
    Forwards Chris & Fionn

Kick Off was 1.30 pm; this was only possible as Mrs McBain kindly
let the kids finish school at 1.00.We decided it would NOT affect
    their Leaving Cert!

Talk about a blustery day, Winnie the pooh had nothing on us !! It
was wild which very much affected the play …

All kitted out, Justin talked them through the moves whilst warming
    them up…

Whistle blew and away we went …..the wind & sun against us for the
first half. What struck us immediately was our guys were desperate
to win! It was an even game with the initial upper hand being
All Saints, who got their first goal quite early on, despite excellent savings from
    Omar and superb defending from
    Alex, John C, Sam G
    and Robbie
    .

We fought on though, pan> with some great runs up the pitch by Jack, Ben, Gavin & Aaron against the wild winds
that certainly blew us off the side lines! Suddenly
Fionn,  Chris & Aaron got a great run with passing to & fro and
    Chris
shot at goal to put the ball sharply into the back of
the net. We were elated !! 1-1

We had an unusual number of male supporters, the Dads seemed to all have days off!! Whether having the extra
testosterone around did the trick we will never know!!span>

We also had the pleasure of Mr Malseed who battled his way down through the winds to support and the kids were
    DELIGHTED!

Play was brought back up our end and some serious tackling took place, every player exceeding themselves, all
were having an outstanding game.. One tackle brought down
    Gavin B

(Well not quite but seriously folks this was like something you would see at at  WEMBLEY !!) Jonah took his place
and got stuck in while we administered the First Aid to our injured man!

All Saints’ somehow managed to score again just before half time to bring the score to 2-1 , our closest ever in a
game against these guys & girls !!

Justin did his pep talk at half time dished out the H20 & Glucose. ….and away we went.

If we thought the first half was exciting we had seen nothing yet!!

From the moment the whistle blew it was go go go ! We had the wind on our side which was fantastic. A great run
up and super passing from the players and
Aaron got a shot at goal that the goalie had no chance of saving & he
    sent it defiantly home !
    2-2!!

Was this for real!! The buzz was definitely catching both on and off the pitch!

Robert B came on for Aaron who deserved his rest!

Play continued up our end with many a ball heading towards the
river that we just couldn’t get into the net when a corner was given
    which
Chris took and what a beauty. It curled right into the corner
    of the goal!!
3-2 You could have been watching Goal of the month!! Such skill !

At this stage all the play was focused on marking All Saints top
players (of which they had quite a number both girls & boys!!) and
keeping then from getting anywhere near
    the goal!

The boys  never let up on the pitch and off the pitch we were just begging the ref to blow the final whistle … The
rewards would be reaped here is no doubt and we kept on and on ….suddenly  after a scuffle down in the box
    Jonah
got past the goalie and chipped the ball into the net, O.M.G. the cheers and pure joy of what had actually happened
were suddenly so apparent to us all.

    WE HAD BEATEN ALL SAINTS!!

A huge thank you to Justin, it was great to see a big smile on his faceJJ! To our super find ( thanks Dermot !!) in a
    ref
Alan who is so so fair to each and every player on the field, while doing his job & helping them learn at the same
    time… to
Elaine for taking home the kit ,to all the Dads who came along ( you will have to come again !) To all the
    Mums
who are a constant support to the kids…... to Mrs McBain for allowing us finish early!!........& to Mr Malseed

for his encouragement from the side line!!

A very blustery day on 26th February in Meadowvale. Mums, a few dads and siblings were all kitted out in winter woollies to
keep the chill wind out, a little jogging on the spot for some of us to keep warm while our Team 2 were being put through their
paces by coach Justin.  Determination was on their faces, with the reality of having to play against the wind, nothing was going
to deter our bunch of guys.

From the very moment the whistle went for start of play, the passing was absolutely superb, with perfect passing from centre
midfielders Jonah Bailey and John Wiley to our wingers, Cian Funge and Gavin Moloney. St Lawrences gained possession of the
ball but after a  tackle by Gavin Browne and a pass to Ben Arrowsmith we saw our first goal! We were absolutely elated.

The boys were playing great but not without fight from St Lawrences, they got possession of the ball and after numerous good
passes and intervening by are midfielders Jonah and Gavin, they managed to take the ball down the field and decided to check
out the talent of our goalie, Conor, with very skilful playing St Lawrences got one in, it has to be said that it was a great goal
but our boys were not going to be deterred, score now 1-1!

Play was brought back up their end with super passing from Kevin Burke, Jonah Bailey and Isaac Harris, we really made the
other team work for possession. Before we knew it the whistle went and half-time was upon us.  We could not believe how quick
the first half went, superb playing kept our mind off the blustery wind and the occasional droplet of rain.

Justin made some tactical changes along with a pep talk and encouraging words.

Second half commenced and Robert Merton came on to replace John Wiley.  St Lawrences were playing their little socks off.
They could see the competition was very stiff but nothing was going to stop the boys in blue and yellow. Before we knew it
Robert Merton chased the ball up the sideline of the pitch finishing his run with a superb pass to Eoin O’Connor who passed to
Jonah and before our eyes we saw the perfect goal – 2.1!!!

This was now looking like a cat and mouse game. St Lawrences came back with two more goals. With the score now 3-2 they
thought they had this game in the bag - but not for long... With all their Tuesday training behind them they really knew how to
control that ball. With only 7 minutes to go and the score still 3-2, Gavin Molony put it in the back of the net helped along by
    Sam Gibbons and Samith.

A great final score, 3-all draw. Well done to everyone for playing so brilliantly and for the great training from Justin and the
    support from the sideline!

    MATCH REPORT

    KILL VS NORTH DUBLIN

    MONDAY 3RD MARCH

Having finally arrived out at North Dublin we kicked off just a little after 3.00pm… A good day for blowing off the cobwebs shall we say!  Four Michelin Women arrived fully clothed for the day’s performance….!!!

Thankfully Omar was well awake… there were 3 attempts at our goals within the first 10 minutes of the game and Omar saved all three…!  However, North Dublin did not give up, Sam played great defence by blocking the ball at every opportunity North Dublin had!  Robbie defending great and getting in on the ball and creating great passes up the field, unfortunately North Dublin got the first goal.  Ben made a great pass to Jonah to move the ball up the pitch, for John to make a brilliant attempt at the goal but alas North Dublin got another great goal.  2: O at half time.

Things looking a bit bleak at half time but great encouragement came from the sideline supporters to keep Kill’s spirits up.  Robert came on and played some great football, bypassing North Dublin, and kicking up to John and passed to Christopher.   He endeavored to kick at the goal but no luck!

Aaron and Jack had some great passing and Jack “chested” the ball where he passed to John and showed us his skills at “Heading”.  Ben and Aaron defending well and getting in on the ball to close in on North Dublin, but alas they popped in another goal and the score reached 3:O.  However, again we have to mention Alex – his tackling once again reached an all time High!

We picked up some speed up the pitch and Fionn popped a goal in with a very cheeky little pitch!  At last we got a goal! Plenty of cheers from the sideline made us think this it it – all we need is three more goals – yes we were optimistic!  But this was not to be - North Dublin succeeded again and finished the game at 4:1.

Big thanks to Justin, and our supporters especially to Elaine as she brought me and I would have ended up in Belfast otherwise…..! Also big thanks to Joshua for his support for the team.

    DELGANY –V- KILL O’THE GRANGE

    VENUE:  DELGANY

    4th MARCH

Players:     Paul, Elliot, Lara, Alistair, Mark (C), Liam, Matthew.

On a cold but sunny day, by the sea, in Greystones the match got underway at 3p.m.  Kill dominated the first half, shots from Paul, Lara, Elliot and Matthew either narrowly missed the target or were saved by a very good Delgany goalkeeper.

Minutes before half time Alistair got the ball inside their half, he turned a Delgany defender inside out before hitting a powerful shot past the helpless keeper.  This put us 1-O up and with Mark cutting out any attacks and Liam tidying up anything that came his way it stayed that way until half time.

After a few positional changes by Kill the second half got underway.  Delgany were like a different team, having defended for the whole first half, they came at us in wave after wave of attack.  This resulted in two quick goals for them.  Lara, Paul and Elliot ran their legs off in the midfield in an attempt to regain the upper hand but we continued to go backwards.  Matthew cut out many Delgany attacks from midfield and when they did get through Liam made some great saves.  Midway into the second half Delgany found the back of our net again making it 3-1.

We raised our game for the last 10 minutes and attacked them again with Alistair causing mayhem in their defence – he was unlucky not to score.  Mark covered lots of ground and was nearly rewarded when his long range shot went narrowly over the cross bar.

FINAL SCORE   DELGANY: 3        KILL: 1

Thanks to all the supporters and to our coach, Mark for all his time and effort – it is much appreciated,
and of course our match reporter!

    MATCH REPORT

    KILL 2nd CLASS VS RATHMICHAEL

    11th MARCH 2008

    Greg A; Marcus C; Liam C;  Harry F; Rory O’N; Mark G; David S; Matthew H; Gavin W; Daniel W;

Well a full team played today, in the not so glorious sunshine – I was in a real quandry whether to cancel or not, but thought it safer for my life to proceed as the children would have been so disappointed!  The day started out badly and improved and then went downhill again!  However this did not deter our Kill Boys!

We played out of our skin today!  Final score was 6 : 2 to Kill.  There were goals coming from all directions!  A marvellous Hat Trick by Matthew, two beautiful goals from Mark G; and a little beauty from Harry F;  I do hope Harry’s hand is OK as he got a kick from a ball onto his hand which hurt him badly…. But this didn’t stop our Harry from helping out his team, by playing on… Liam made some brilliant tackles, together with Rory and Marcus.  David ran up and down the pitch and attacking every ball that came his way.  Gavin passed the ball at every opportunity and Greg playing great football by clearing it at every possibility.

Daniel made some fantastic saves in Goal, together with all the players who had a chance in Goal….  We feel this was a fairer way to do the goalies this time around as we had 10 players and Rathmichael had only 7.  Coach, Ian Wallace had a lot of work to do today, by subbing on and off during the game.

Huge thanks to all our parents and of course grandparents, and I do hope you have all forgiven me by now, for proceeding with the games!  Also big thanks to Rachel Faro, for taking on the responsibility of looking after the washing of the kit, for the remainder of the season, and ensuring all is returned on the Day!

Many thanks too, to Mark B Knox and Ian Wallace for coaching our 2nd class boys, and what a team it is turning out to be…!!

More matches to follow after Easter.

Happy Easter to you all – thank you!

Kill were in great spirits before the game and having a chance to warm up, instead of when we went out there in March while we waded through the traffic.  But alas poor Josh damaged his knee while attacking a pass at him during warm up time.  This unfortunately kept poor Josh out of the game, but he stood by his team and suppor
