KPMG FC 2 – 2 Raging Bulls

With a David O’ Leary type speech and the start Mark Hegarty told us to go out and play with the same determination and passion as we did in the previous two games. We did so except KPMG weren’t ready for the blunders that would cost them all three points.

The game started well for Bulls as they attacked early on with conviction. The first chance of the game fell to their striker only 15 yards out. The ball was shot low and to the bottom right corner but a magnificent save from Barthez prevented the Bulls taking an early lead.

KPMG pushed forward and tried to make chances for themselves. A should from Cossy saw the ball go just inches wide and KPMG felt they were beginning to get control of the game. That was until a free was given away only 20 yards out.

With three in the wall Barthez took u his position. The Bulls midfielder swerved the free with accuracy and venom. The ball flew into the top corner of the net with the help from a touch from Barthez’s fingertips. Not only were KPMG disgusted as conceding a goal early on but also Barthez felt as though he made a brutal effort at trying to stop the shot.

KPMG you would have thought would drop their heads and play defensive football but it was quite the opposite. A quick ball down the right sent Briano on one of his Brazilian runs. He played the ball through for Cossy who miraculously kept the ball in play. With one touch and a quick glance he fired a shot low and passed the bewildered Bulls keeper.

Midway through the first half Cossy went on one of his solo efforts. He saw Riddick on the left wing that he slotted the ball to beautifully. The quick one two and Riddick had the ball back. He ran at he defence, turning them inside out. Looked up and let loose on goal. The ball took a slight deflection and flew into the back of the net. KPMG were in the lead and in control of the game.

KPMG nearly got a fourth when Riddick curled a free kick towards the to corner of the goal. It looked in all the way but the Bulls keeper made a fantastic save to leave the Bulls’ deficit to only one goal.

The second half started like the first half ended with KPMG enjoying the majority of play. With chances galore and missed opportunities KPMG could’ve had at least five goals in this game. On another solo effort Cossy flew down the left wing and turned the defence inside out. Instead of rolling the ball across to the unmarked Tank, Cossy decided have a go for his hat-trick but his effort was blown out for a throw down the right wing.

KPMG appealed for a penalty when Briano was hacked down inside the danger area. Much to the accountants surprise the referee waved play on.

With only two minutes on the clock KPMG had wrapped up their first victory in four games but they weren’t counting on having such a retard between the sticks. The ball was played through and took a deflection off a KPMG player. Instead of picking the ball up Barthez decided to kick the ball up the field. But the mistake was made. The ball flew straight to a Bs player who split the offside trap with a great pass. The striker to one look up and slotted the ball home.

Like the jews during WWII, Barthez endured similar abuse as that lashed out by the Germans. Will he get his game in the next match? Only time will tell but in my opinion he has the chances of Bob Hope or No Hope.
