Starling

Size: About 21.5cms
Obvious marks: : In winter the adult has some white spots and in summer has hardly any.
Colour: The adult has a purple ring around its neck and the young are just brown. They are usually green and purple but the white spots cover the colour in the winter .
Where it lives: The starling lives in the countryside.
What it eats: They eat worms and slugs.
Flight pattern: When they get together they fly in a straight pattern.
Colour of eggs: The eggs are blue.
Nest:

They live in holes of trees and often move into the nests of other birds, driving out the nest-owners.

When you see them: On spring mornings you are likely to see them.

Song: The song of the starling is a mixture of squeaky sounds, clear whistles and imitations of other birds...even barking dogs!
Beak: These are dark brown in winter, but turn yellow as Spring comes closer.
