Experience

Design:

Connect Ireland
- during the summer of ‘95 I worked in Connect Ireland (a start-up internet service provider) creating graphics and designing web pages. This gave me an understanding of the technicalities and the industry.

Design Forum
- during the summer of ‘96 I worked in Design Forum (a graphic design company) doing design, layout, graphics and illustration. This gave me important experience in dealing with design for print, dealing with clients and the day to day running of a design business.

Hassets
- I took a week out of college to get work experience in Hassetts CBT (a multimedia / computer based training company) where I created and cleaned up graphics and designed an animation for an Authorware project. This showed me the workings of a multimedia set-up and group project work.

Star
- I have spent several evenings at Star Newspapers getting experience at newspaper design layout and image processing, through a contact.

PixelMagic
- during the summer of ‘97 I worked in PixelMagic, a multimedia and game design/development company, building web sites (for the games), and making graphics and illustrations for Director and web sites. I learned a great deal about multimedia design, software and the multimedia industry. This was an excellent group work experience for me.

The Mews
- from June to November '98 I worked in The Mews, a video post-production and editing facility, creating graphics for television adverts, corporate videos and produced the weekly graphics for TechTV (a technology series showing on Network 2). I also worked on the company website, designed the company showreel, produced video cds for clients, and provided graphics and advice on multimedia strategy for Midas Productions (the associate company to The Mews). I also troubleshooted the company's macs and mac network.

This gave me a lot of experience with dealing with video and television work as well as integrating this area with others - I now have a lot of experience with the technology, concepts and constraints of working with motion graphics and video footage, which is very different from either print, web or interactive design, and how to use it in conjunction with them. I hope to explore this much more fully at some point in the future.

Additionally, it was a pressured work environment which involved producing quality work to client specification on tight deadlines - I believe that I met those criteria.

This will bring you back to where I was
