Crossmolina advanced to the next Mayo Under-16 final after a great battle with old rivals and neighbours, Lahardane at Bofeenaun on Tuesday evening last with Gabriel Walsh and Enda Lavelle on top at midfield. The Deel-siders forwards engaged in plentiful supply of ball throughout the final half.

Gabriel Walsh opened the scoring with a point for the visitors. What looked like the crucial score of the half came when a high centre into the Crossmolina goal was fisted into the net by Brian Rowland. After just five minutes of play Declan Gallagher fielded a high ball and cut through the defence before driving low to the corner of the net under the body of David Coleman.

The visitors were 2-4 to 1-0 ahead at half time.

Thomas McNulty knocked in a goal after a goal-mouth scramble; Darren Walsh scored three great points off the left boot.

Lahardane rallied with a goal and a point from Ross Nolan in the 15 minute. Declan Gallagher cracked in a goal, and added a point two minutes later.

Further points from Enda Lavelle and Gabriel Walsh gave the visitors a comfortable win in the end.
