Lahardane and Crossmolina continued their great rivalry when clashing in the opening round of the county minor league at Ballina on Friday evening.

Midway through the first half Lahardane began to take control with the defence, powered by Adrian Marley, Anthony McDermott and Anthony Irwin played superbly, while Shane Blake excelled in the middle of the field.

Two great points by Stephen Rochford and Declan Gallagher left Crossmolina trailing 0-7 to 0-5 at the interval.

On the restart Blake and Damien Kelly continued to dominate for Lahardane but had only one point from Vinnie Cawley to show for their hard work.

Crossmolina came back into the game again with a long range point from Walsh and Enda Lavelle, however Lahardane weathered the storm with points from Declan Garrett, Shane Blake and Vinnie Cawley.

The teams meet again in the first round of the championship and a game not to be missed.
