Minor win for Lahardane

Lahardane picked up its second set of points in the county minor league division one by defeating Castlebar at McHale Park, Castlebar.

The visitors started strongly and points by influential midfielder Shane Blake, Damien Kelly and county minor stars Vinnie Cawley and Declan Leonard helped into an early lead. However, Castlebar full-forward Fintan McHale was in excellent scoring form and he replied with 1-2 to leave matters level.

Lahardane responded likewise with a goal from midfielder Damien Kelly and further points from Declan Leonard and Vinnie Cawley and a fine goal from Ross Nolan to leave them 2-8 to 2-3 ahead at the restart.

Midway in the final period Lahardane held a seven points advantage but a Castlebar goal by Sean Kenny left the whole issue wide open.

The visitors raised the level of the performance over the final ten minutes and a goal by substitute Paul Jordan sealed victory for the Nephinsiders.
