Crossmolina collected two vital points in this Div. 4 local derby at St. Tiernan’s Park on Sunday last, beating Lahardane 1-10 to 1-4.

Played in ideal weather conditions after a night of heavy rain, the game was entertaining. Lahardane dominated the first 15 minutes with Gerry Burke and James Gillespie at midfield giving a good supply of ball to their forwards. Burke also scored 1-1.

Noel Gillespie and Myles Burke had points for Crossmolina before the great veteran Liam O’Malley who emerged man of the match scored a great goal. Myles Burke had two further points for the Deelsiders to give them a 1-4 to 1-2 half time lead.

Noel Ryan and Padraic Costello, now at midfield, were in command in this area. Michael Moyles with three great points, J.C. Loftus, brother Billy and Padraic Costello had points each. This put the game beyond Lahardane who only scored two points in the second half, from Gerry Burke and Shane Blake.
