League Division 3 (Sunday 14-September-97) Lahardane..................4-11 Lahardane, after this win at the Neale, forced themselves into the promotion picture. The Neale began with four fine points against a jittery Lahardane side still reeling from their championship exit. Tom Cawley, single-handily, kept Lahardane in the game with his first half tally of 2-2 to help them lead 2-5 to 0-10 at the break. The Neale were far livelier in the second half but were outclassed, adding on just three more points. Lahardane got the break they needed with a Declan Leonard goal. The game will be remembered by the introduction of 14-year-old Cormac Rowland who, in his limited time on the field, scored 1-1 and laying on point for fellow substitute Brian Rowland. It was a huge morale boosting win for Lahardane over a stylish Neale side. Lahardane: E. Coyne, A. Marley, A. McDermott, A. Irwin, T. Marley, J.J. Leonard, M. Marley, S. Blake, J. Gillespie, N. Garrett, F. Bryan, V. Cawley, G. Leonard, D. Leonard, T. Cawley. Subs.: Cormac Rowland (for G. Leonard); B. Rowland (for N. Garrett). Referee: T. Murphy. <<Back |
