Lahardane and Lacken share points

Lahardane played their opening game in the North Mayo Junior league away to reigning North Mayo champions Lacken.

Even though conditions were fine, the pitiful scoreline of 0-5 each reflected a sometimes hard game.

Lahardane were reduced to fourteen players after five minutes but great defending by the full-backs of Adrian Marley, Francis Bryan and Anthony Leonard restricted the homeside to five points for the hour.

In the second half it was the turn of the Lahardane half-back line of Trevor Marley, Noel Blake and Padraig Leonard to dominate.

Indeed it was only when Lacken had two players dismissed that Lahardane landed the points they needed to force a draw.
