Junior League Division Three (Saturday 30-May-98)

Lahardane...................2-17
Carramore...................1-10

Lahardane hotshots turn on the style

Unbeaten Lahardane made the journey to South Mayo Junior champions Carramore and again emerged victorious. The homeside fell victim to a late flurry of scores which followed some brilliant passing movements.

Because of clashing colours Lahardane had to wear any colour jersies other than their usual black and gold.

At half time, Carramore trailed by two points, but with the very first attack of the second half, they were gifted a goal to take the lead.

From then on however, James Gillespie, Shane Blake and Anthony McDermott sent in a non stop supply to Lahardane's forwards. Declan Leonard and John Rowland goaled and nine second half points followed. Indeed most of Carramore's points came from dead balls. For the hosts the Campbell brothers tried hardest for a side that clearly missed the talents of Pat Walsh. Best for Lahardane, in a hard hitting match, were John McDonnell and Mervyn Marley.

Lahardane: E. Coyne, Padraig Leonard, S. Gibbons, J. McDonnell, N. Garrett, A. McDermott, M. Marley, S. Blake, J. Gillespie, B. Rowland, J. Rowland, T. Cawley, D. Leonard, Patrick Leonard, C. Rowland. Subs.: D. Kelly (for S. Gibbons); P. Lynn, D. Burke, D. Nolan.

Referee: P. O'Maolmhuaidh
