Under-21 'B' Championship (1998)

Lahardane....................4-13
Aghamore......................2-6

Lahardane turn on the style against Aghamore

Lahardane has produced a number of fine underage teams in recent years and some of these players are now maturing into an accomplished side. Due to a waterlogged pitch in Lahardane, the lads from the shadows of Nephin conceeded home advantage and travelled to Aghamore for this Under-21 Championship game. And they turned in a competent and solid display to defeat the home team in a very sporting encounter.

Cormac Rowland and Declan Leonard were in mighty form and accounted for the vast bulk of the Lahardane tally. Liam Canavan also had a superb game for the winners while among the others to shine on the day were Adrian and Mervyn Marley. Overall, however, the whole team blended well and are now looking forward to their big game against Belmullet in Belmullet this coming weekend.

Aghamore battled away gamely but they came up against a very disciplined and well focused Lahardane team on the day. Among those who played well for the home team were James Carty, Gordon Cribben, Colm Flaherty, Francie Boyle and Conor Moran as well as Ronnie Robinson who excelled in attack.

Lahardane: Liam Canavan, Adrian Marley, Declan Sheridan, Mervyn Marley, Anthony McDermott, Anthony Irwin, John Rowland (0-2); Shane Blake (0-1); Vinny Cawley (0-1); Damian Kelly, Brian Rowland (0-2); Declan Leonard (2-3); Cormac Rowland (2-3). Subs.: John McDonnell (0-1); Ray McDermott and David Burke.

Referee: Jimmy Coen (Hollymount)
