School History.

.
The 'old' school at Laragh was one of the first national schools built in rural Ireland on a site donated by Daniel Hurley and leased by the Arnott Estate at the ground rent of one schilling a year 'if demanded'. The one roomed building cost £70 to complete and the catchment area extended to Mawmore, Tullyglass and Farnalough. It opened on the 2nd of January 1849. The present school was built by Mr. Michael Walsh at a cost of £7000, and it opened its doors for the first time in January 1967.
