SET:
(Treacherous) Mother Kürsk, The Eigth Victim, Sentence I Rise, Before The Fall, Neccessary Evil (Naplam Death cover), The Colour of Winter, The Affliction, You Give Love A Bad Name (Bon Jovi cover).

This was a great night overall. From The Ashes and Pushed Aside were both excellent and got a great reaction from everybody there. The only disappointment was that FTA had already sold out of every copy of their CD - all 500 of them!.

Thanks to The AMC for the gig, FTA for the amp (and for going mental during our set) and Foxy for the lead.

Saturday 9th March 2002 @ The High Stool, Limerick.
BILL:
The Swarm, Discord.

SET:
Till The Last Breath, The Eigth Victim, Sentence I Rise, The Colour of Winter, Neccessary Evil (Naplam Death cover), Poison (Alice Cooper cover),
(Treacherous) Mother Kürsk, The Affliction.

We had a good laugh that night and we played fairly well. Poison garnered the best reaction despite the fact that it all kind of fell apart in the last few seconds of the song. The funniest moment of the night was when an elderly gentleman approached me between songs and complemented us on our 'compositions'. The Swarm sounded unbelievable and I spent the night drooling over Mick's new amp.

Thanks to Mick for the amp and Decky for the use of his kit.

Friday 15th February 2002 @ The High Stool, Limerick.
BILL:
The Swarm, Discord.

SET:
Till The Last Breath, Sentence I Rise, The Eigth Victim,
(Treacherous) Mother Kürsk, The Colour of Winter, The Affliction.

John had decided he wasn't going to play this gig because he was dieing sick. We had planned to play Necessary Evil by Napalm Death, but it would've been shite without John so we just played six of our own choons. Fair play to John though, he got up and did the last 2 songs with us before we retired to the bar where we promptly all got pissed.

Thanks to The Swarm for the use of their equipment.

Thursday 14th February 2002 @ Nestors Bar, Limerick.
BILL:
22, Baitano, Discord, Edgefly, Roper, The Unknown Truth, Funbobby.

SET:
(Treacherous) Mother Kürsk, The Eigth Victim, The Colour of Winter, You Give Love a Bad Name (Bon Jovi Cover), The Affliction.

We had a mad laugh that night. The gig was downstairs in Nestors and the place was totally mobbed! Every band ruled, but on the night (for me anyway) Edgefly were something special. Ken is a wicked fucking singer and John Grimes was the picture of professionalism (he strolled in about 10pm, played the gig and then left???). Aidan from Baitano went a bit nuts at the end of their set and hopped his bass off the drumkit, which didn't seem to surprise their drummer one bit! 22 are my favourite Limerick band and everyone enjoyed their set. I never realised what a great choon Failure is until that night (2 B honest I only listen to the heavier tracks on the CD), but now it's up there with my favourites Panorama and Cliché. Funbobby are catchy as fuck and had this wicked choon about getting an Atari for Christmas as a youngfella???. It was our first time seeing Roper, which is a bit fucked up seeing as how they only live up the road (Up Caherdavin!!!) and have been gigging for ages. They were dirt heavy and played with unbelievable confidence, showing me up for the nervous plank I am behind the guitar.

Thursday 20th December 2001 @ The High Stool, Limerick.

BILL:
Silverpearl, Discord.

SET:
(Treacherous) Mother Kürsk, The Eigth Victim, Sentence I Rise, Til The Last Breath, The Colour of Winter, You Give Love A Bad Name (Bon Jovi Cover), The Affliction.

Cork's Flatline were supposed to play as well but didn't for reasons unknown. Our drumkit got it's first public outing (previously we've used other bands kits) and Rory managed to knock a hole through the bass skin half way through the set. Despite being our third gig in as many months I was still nervous as shit and didn't move a muscle throughout the whole set.

Saturday 10th November 2001 @ The High Stool, Limerick.

BILL:
The Swarm, Revile(Dublin), Discord.

SET:
(Treacherous) Mother Kürsk, The Eigth Victim, Sentence I Rise, Til The Last Breath, The Colour of Winter, You Give Love A Bad Name (Bon Jovi Cover), The Affliction.

Inhumane (Dublin) were meant to play this gig as well, but their drummer was in hospital (I think). Luckily this didn't stop Revile from single handedly representing the capital with some lethal riffs and well constructed Death Metal choonz. The Swarm kicked arse and even had one particular member of the bar staff take a quick break from his official duties to wreck his neck up front with the rest of the Children of the Swarm.

We played well enough and benefited from the unbelieveable drum sound that Declan Mallone (The Swarm) had rigged up for the night. There was some panic when my amp started making funny noises, but we pulled through and finished the rest of the set disaster free.

Saturday 6th October 2001 @ The High Stool, Limerick.

BILL:
Silverpearl, Calzino Fiasco, Discord.

SET:
(Treacherous) Mother Kürsk, The Eigth Victim, Til The Last Breath, The Colour of Winter, You Give Love A Bad Name (Bon Jovi cover), The Affliction.

This was our first gig and myself and Aid were shitting brix. Thanks a million to Shane (Calzino's drummer) for letting us use his kit and La La (Calzino's guitarist) for the use of his amp. Thanks to Aidan for the bass amp. Thanks also to Silverpearl and Pat in particular for giving us the slot.

Gig Poster (27 kb)

Click here for a review of Calzino's set by Sarah Purcell. We even got a mention, kind of:

"I had just missed the first band and didn’t find out who they were, cause everybody was so damn pissed. When I asked who were on first, I got answers like "Well 'slurp' ahhh 'burp' you see..ahhh once upon a time I ahhh, (pause) I met this duck and it had no idea what was goin on you know .. laugh laugh laugh, fall, laugh a lot more. And at that moment I felt at ease and that sort of lark."
