Zombieville USA

Foreword

I decided to do this review as this is a game i have favoured on my itouch for a long time and I dont want it to be forgotten. This was the second app that i bought. Its currently $2.

Gameplay

Simple stuff really. You must move through each level killing the zombies. Its a simple concept but not so simple when you reach the higher levels. My current high score is level 19. You have an arrow on bottom left and bottom right to move in that direction. If you hit the empty space between the arrows you shoot your gun. You have a health bar and ammo count top left. If you hit the ammo button it changes guns for you. There are a lot of guns in the game split between 5 categories. There are handguns, shotguns, machine guns, rockets and the last group which run on fuel. These are flame throwers and chainsaws. Its fun working with each weapon. You can pick ammo and money up in houses in the level by going through the door.

You can really get a desperate feeling when you use your last shot and your scrambling to get to the next house. There are also 3 types of zombies. Standard then a faster but weaker guy and a slower but MUCH stronger guy. he is really tough to beat and i try to just hide from them. There are 3 difficulties added too but i just stick with normal

Presentation

I think the graphics are qiute nice. Theres nothing special but its got a nice fun feeling. Zombies heads explode nicely. The background can be repetitive but its not a major deal as youll be too busy to notice.

I really like the music thats in the game. Its got a nice feel to it and sets the mood. I really like the intro screen too.

Cons

I would have liked more game modes to add some variety. At the moment its just one type, which is going through the levels. I think the hard zombie can be a bit too hard as you could empty a tonne of bullets from the best machine gun and still not die. Or two/three rockets.

Final Word

This is a great game and very enjoyable. Just trying to beat your score is challenging and fun.

Iron Sight

Foreword

I enjoyed the games like pocket tanks and ishoot on my itouch and of course worms on many other platforms. When i saw it in 3d i thought this could be quite good. And with a price rise in a short while i decided to buy. (this was when it was first released price is now $4)

Gameplay

The concept is the same as any other artillery/gun turn based game. You have to destroy the other guys before they destroy you. You are able to move about with each of your robots. You have a slider on the right to adjust angle and then a power button to fire. For the first mission you are given some support with an arc appearing to show your missile line.

There are 8 campaign missions to go through. Once you beat each one you can play it in single player or hot seat mode. Each level varies in design and set up. There is online multiplayer too but i havent delved much into this.

There are plenty of weapons in the game. You have single missions. Multiple missile shots. One weapon that i really like is that it impacts first then splits into 4 and each falls around the initial impact. If aimed right its very effective. You can also have teleports to move your robots to areas you cant walk to. Supplies drop down every few turns to replenish your stocks.

The difficulty in the game is good. its not too easy but not so hard you cant pass the first mission. It steadily increases at a nice pace.

Presentation

The game (i think) looks great. The 3d is done very well. The different battlefields are also quite nice. Explosions look good and seeing a robot get blown to pieces is quite satisfying.  As the robots get more damaged you can see smoke and flames come from them

Sound is nice in the game. The robots have good movement sounds (although a tad annoying) and explosions sound good. I also really like the sound of a missile being launched.

Cons

I dont like some of the AI. whenever a supply is dropped the AI will teleport to it straight away, even if its sitting next your whole team. Its kind of weird. Id also like to see new maps released in an update just to give more to the game, its not a biggy though

Final Word

I have enjoyed my time with this game. Its very fun to play and can be a tough challenge too.

Kaloki Adventure

Foreword

Well tycoon games always interest me. I like the strategy involved without waging war (although that would be a cool future update for this). I got the lite and felt this was a good game so decided to get the full and im glad i did.

Gameplay

The concept is simple enough. Manage your space station. You can build various buildings to fill the needs of your arriving spaceships. There are 5 needs/wants: social, science, trade, information and plants/vegetation. You also have buildings to generate power for the station. Each category has a number of buildings increasing as you unlock them.

There is a story mode which will have you doing certain objectives to finish the level. These can range from raising money to bulding a certain building or in one raising enough power. There is a small backstory to explain each scenario. Its not much but its sort of fun. There is also free play where you just play at a game without any objectives. There are 6 maps to use for this mode.

Presentation

I think the graphics are quite well done. You can see your station from a zoomed out view and can spin around it at will to see all sides of it. Each building has its own look. You also have a big variety of ships that come to visit you. One of the things i enjoy is selecting a ship and watching it as it flies from station to station. You can zoom right into the ship and follow it about.

The sound is good with some cheerful music. But one of the best things is the satisfing "Kaching" as you roll in the cash.

Cons

Sometimes is can be tricky selecting an empty port. This is especially hard when you have a lot of stations filled. Another thing that can happen is in story mode when you have to build a certain building but its not a starting building. You have to try figure out which line you should expand to unlock it.

Final Word

Kaloki Adventure is a very fun game to play. I have enjoyed my time with it so far. If you enjoy tycoon games then i would suggest it. Its also quite cheap and a good buy.

Realmaze 3D

Foreword

I decided to pick this one up because i thought the whole concept was interesting. I had looked

at various gameplay videos and decided to go for it as it was only 99c

Gameplay

Its very simple gameplay but really fun. The controls are simple. On the left you have a button

to move forward and backwards. On the right you have four direction arrows. They let you look up,

down, left and right. The goal of the game is to escape the maze. The difference is you have ladders

which allow you to go up and down. So rather than a flat maze its a box with winding corridors and

ladders. You have 5 sizes of maze: tiny, small, normal, large and insane. I have yet to to finish and

insane one because it is just so HUGE.

Presentation

The game looks great. Each of the mazes have different colour lights as well as no lights so the

maze can be tricky. The exit is shown as a bright light but sometimes youll be tricked by a normal

light. In the last update there were two new themes for the mazes added. There was normal walls and

ladders before but now you also have a house theme and a foresty theme. They all look great.

The sound in this is great to create the atmosphere in the maze. Especially the sound of your feet

hitting the ground as you scramble around the same corner for the third time.

Cons

The only con i have is not a very big one. You wont play this at long stages of a time. It doesnt

really count as you wont be on your ipod for very long anyway.

Final Word

This is a great game for any time. It has a good lasting appeal just to beat your high scores.

Car Jack Streets

Foreword

I was looking forward to this game for quite some time. Then when the two bad releases came i got a bit worried this would flop. One was ok but for it to happen twice is not good at all. Finally when i saw that it was released i bought the game. I read on TA that it wasnt very good and people complained a lot but that happened before so i stayed optimistic.

Story: There is no real story just a background one to drive you through the game. At the start theres a short comic intro. You owe Frankie 1 million dollars and he wants it back. He even blows up your car. You are charged with paying this back in $50,000 installments each week. This week is actual real time though not in game time. When its nightime with you its night in the game.

Gameplay: I think the gameplay is brilliant. just driving around in the game and going mad is so much fun. You have a virtual d-pad to walk about. its placed on the left. On the right is a gun button which you use to shoot. When your near a car a button appears to get in. its all very simple. The car controls change slightly and this is where people started to complain. on the left you have buttons for left and right and on the right of the screen you have forward and back buttons aswell as a turbo boost. I found the driving easy to do right from the start but many complained it was difficult. I cant see it myself to be honest.

To earn money in the game you do quests for a wide range of people. You have the nice missions such as bus driving, taxi driving, pizza delivery or the not so nice such as killing, robbery, or destruction. The latter are way more fun. I also found the good missions a lot harder to do at times. As the bus does not control well i found and getting within a time limit is tough. You can also get surprise missions such as kill 10 people in 30 seconds, survive a mob attack, blow up 5 cars. These are quite fun to do although sometimes hard

you also have a list of felonies which are stuff like rundown so many people, steal so many cars and one of my favourites do donuts. there are about 10 felonies to do with 3 levels of each. You also have hidden packages around the game which you must collect. 50 in all.

Graphics: I think this game looks brilliant. The overhead cartoony look is perfect. they didnttry to do 3d and then not do it well instead they opted for simple graphics but which are done well.

Cons: there arent many and most wont last long. The first bad thing is you can only hold one weapon at a time. this can be frustrating. Added to that is if you drive over a new weapon you instantly lose your last one. Its happened to me a few times where i have lots of shotgun ammo but then i crash and spin into a grenade which i dont want. This game is also starting to crash a bit recently and can be annoying when your in a mission and then lose it altogether.

Also there is no map in the game at all. While not a major issue it would be nice to know where you are or going at times. there is a gps system used for missions. An arrow will point in the direction of where you must go and you find your way there.

The good news of these cons is that both will be fiexed in the next two weeks id say. both are top priority at TAG games for the first update.

Final Word: i love this game so much. There is so much to with missions and just going crazy on a rampage. I would definetly reccomend this to anyone. Now I'm off to play more CJS

CJS - 9/10 (only the minor flaws lose the 10 and theyll soon be fiexed
