- The Advance Tyre All County Football League gets underway........Premier A: Castletown 2-7 Kilanerin 0-06.......Premier C: Kilanerin 1-11 Glynn Barntown 0-09.
- Kilanerin crash out of the Jim Byrne Cup in the quarter-final to the eventual winners of the competition Gusserane........Gusserane 1-15 Kilanerin 4-02.
APRIL
- The All County Hurling League sees a bright start for Ballyfad........Ballyfad 3-16 Cushinstown 2-12.
- ACFL Premier A Round 2 and Kilanerin get off the mark........Kilanerin 0-09 HWH Bunclody 0-08. Bad news for the seconds though as their earlier win over Glynn Barntown is reversed due to being late and they also lose their second game.........Kilanerin 0-06 Bannow-Ballymitty 2-12.
- On April 1st, Kilanerin Ballyfad GAA Club become only the third GAA club in Wexford to go into cyberspace. The new web site, entitled The '74 in honour of the first time Kilanerin won the Wexford SFC, now receives up to 30 hits per week........http://homepage.tinet.ie/~limbrick
MAY
- John Hegarty captains the Wexford Senior Football team in the 1998 Championship. They lose out to Longford after a replay........Longford 0-16 Wexford 2-07.
- Paul Hughes, Michael Higgins, Pat Forde, Jim D'Arcy and Micheal Hughes line out for the Wexford Junior Football team who defeat Laois and draw with Meath in the Leinster Championship. Eddie O'Sullivan was a selector.
- Aodhan & Peter Kavanagh play roles on the Wexford minor Hurling team who qualify for the Leinster Final after defeating Dublin and Laois.
- Ballyfad qualify for the quarter-finals of the ACHL after receiving a host of walkovers and defeating Gorey.
- ACFL Premier A Round 3........Kilanerin 2-14 Gusserane 1-07........Premier C......Kilanerin 2-05 Ballyhogue 0-17.
JUNE
- Seamus Hughes takes his place as substitute for the Wexford Senior Hurling team as they crash out of the Leinster Championship to eventual All Ireland champions Offaly.........Offaly 1-15 Wexford 0-17.
- The Wexford Junior Footballers are defeated by Meath in the quarter-final replay..........Meath 3-15 Wexford 3-06.
- ACFL Premier C.........Kilanerin withdraw from the competition after failing to travel to Horeswood and St. Mary's, Rosslare.
- ACFL Premier A........Kilanerin find themselves in a fixtures pile-up as they travel to Duffry Rovers, St. Anne's, and Fethard in the space of 10 days. They win all three and qualify for the semi-finals......Duffry Rovers 1-06 Kilanerin 7-15.......St. Anne's 2-08 Kilanerin 2-14..........Fethard 1-12 Kilanerin 2-11.
- The 1998 Feile na nGael hurling festival takes place in Wexford and Ballyfad host Wolfe Tones(Longford) on the weekend of the 25-27th. Both teams fail to qualify for the latter stages as Askamore top the group of four (the fourth team are Castleblaney of Monaghan).
JULY
- Aodhan & Peter Kavanagh represent Wexford in the Leinster Minor Hurling Final against Kilkenny at Croke Park on July 5th........Wexford 1-11 Kilkenny 1-11. The replay is held in Carlow but Kilkenny are rampant.......Kilkenny 2-15 Wexford 0-06. Wexford qualify for the All Ireland semi-final through the new back-door system and by defeating Antrim in the quarter-final........Wexford 2-14 Antrim 1-10.
- John Hegarty and Seamus Hughes play on the Wexford Intermediate Hurling team and after defeating Dublin and Westmeath after a replay, they face Kilkenny in the Leinster final played in Carlow as a double header with the Minor replay.........Kilkenny 3-13 Wexford 0-11.
- ACFL Premier A Round 7.......Kilanerin 5-10 Sarsfields 0-07.
- 1798 Commemoration match in Dublin........Kilanerin 2-16 Ballyboughil 1-08.
- Gordon Hughes wins a South Tipperary SF League medal with Moyle Rovers.
AUGUST
- Kilanerin crash out of the Senior Football Championship on Bank Holiday Monday........Gusserane 2-6 Kilanerin 0-6.
- Wexford lose to Cork in the All Ireland Minor Hurling semi-final.......Cork 0-12 Wexford 0-10.
- Gordon Hughes wins a South Tipperary SFC medal with Moyle Rovers as they defeat both Ardfinnan and the 1997 Munster Club finalists, Fethard.
- Ballyfad's march to the Junior Hurling Championship begins with a second round defeat of Clongeen.......Ballyfad 2-18 Clongeen 1-11.
SEPTEMBER
- Gorey District Junior Football Championship Rd. 1........Kilanerin 2-10 Craanford 0-06.
- Ballyfad qualify for the Junior Hurling semi-finals with ease.........Ballyfad 3-16 Ferns St. Aidan's 0-4.
- Ballyfad's U-11 hurling team finish runners-up in the County ground hurling championship.
- Ballyfad Juvenile hurlers lose to Liam Mellows in a play-off to qualify for the District semi-finals........Liam Mellows 2-7 Ballyfad 2-0......The Juveniles failed to qualify for the latter stages of the district football championship.
- The Under-14 footballers crash out of the district championship to Castletown........Castletown 2-8 Kilanerin 2-7......They failed to qualify for the latter stages of the district hurling championship.
- The U-12 footballers lose the Gorey District Semi-final........Buffers Alley 1-8 Kilanerin 2-4..........They failed to qualify for the latter stages of the district hurling championship.
OCTOBER
- Ballyfad are crowned Wexford Junior Hurling Champions after defeating Oulart-the Ballagh in the semi-final.........Ballyfad 4-10 Oulart 1-13............and Askamore in the final played on the 18th............Ballyfad 1-12 Askamore 2-5. Both games are played in Gorey.
- Ballyfad minor hurlers lose to Cloughbawn and are knocked out of the championship.....Cloughbawn 1-9 Ballyfad 1-7......They failed to qualify for the football semi-finals as eventual county champions and finalists, Starlights and Adamstown, edge them out at the group stages.
- Jim & John Donohoe win New York SFC medals........Leitrim 2-8 Stamford 0-12.
NOVEMBER
- Gordon Hughes wins a Tipperary Senior Football Championship medal with Moyle Rovers as they defeat Ardfinnan in the final........Moyle Rovers 3-12 Ardfinnan 1-08.
- Ballyfad U-21 hurlers lose to Liam Mellows in the District Championship........Liam Mellows 2-9 Ballyfad 0-11.
- Kilanerin get off to a bad start in the 1999 Jim Byrne Cup after losing at home to Duffry Rovers and away in Castletown.
- Kilanerin capture their fifth Gorey District Junior Football Championship in the 1990's after they defeat Naonh Eanna in the semi-final......Kilanerin 5-9 Naomh Eanna 0-4.......and old rivals Castletown in the final played on the 14th.......Kilanerin 2-8 Castletown 0-9.
- John Hegarty, Pat Forde and Matty Forde are called onto the Wexford Senior Football panel for the 1998-99 NFL. Wexford get off to a great start and top the table after winning their first three matches.......Wexford 1-11 Waterford 0-5........Wexford 2-9 Longford 0-14......Wexford 0-11 Tipperary 0-9.
- Moyle Rovers qualify for the AIB Munster Club Football final after a shock win over Cork champions Bantry Blues in Dunmanway......Moyle Rovers 1-7 Bantry Blues 0-7.
- Kilanerin qualify for their fifth consecutive ACFL Premier final after demolishing Glynn Barntown in the semi-final.......Kilanerin 6-12 Glynn Barntown 2-07.
- Ballyfad win ACHL Division 2 quarter-final......Ballyfad 3-8 Bannow-Ballymitty 0-04.
DECEMBER
- Ballyfad lose out to 1997 Junior Hurling Champions, Gusserane in the ACHL semi-final by 2 points.......Gusserane 1-14 Ballyfad 1-12.
- Gordon Hughes plays for Moyle Rovers in their first ever Munster Club Final. They lose out to Doonbeg of Clare after a replay. Both matches are played in the Gaelic Gorunds in Limerick.......Doonbeg 0-7 Moyle Rovers 0-4.
JANUARY 1999
- Kilanerin qualify for the final of the Junior B football County Championship after defeating St. Mary's, Maudlintown at Hollymount on Saturday January 30th......Kilanerin 3-09 (18) St. Mary's, Maudlintown 0-05 (05).
- Kilanerin win their fourth All County Premier League title in succession after defeating old rivals Castletown in the final played on January 23rd in Ferns......Kilanerin 3-08 Castletown 0-07.
FEBRUARY 1999
- Kilanerin win the 1998 Junior B Football County Championship by the tightest of margins over a gallant Taghmon-Camross side in a most entertaining final on Saturday February 6th at Hollymount.....Kilanerin 0-08 Taghmon Camross 1-04.
