He was a blacksmith by trade. He began housekeeping in a small house
in the north bank of the Wooster Cove, Housatonic River, CT, moved to
Bridgeport in 1793, was converted under the Methodist Church and
joined that church in 1812; sold out and removed to Catherine in 1812,
where he connected with the Episcopal Church.
