[1653] There was Edward MEEKS living in Yonkers, NY in 1761 (mentioned in awill that year). His apparent daughter Elizabeth MEEKS, also ofYonkers, married Richard HOPPE(R) and they moved to Philipstown,Putnam co. (formerly Dutchess co.), NY. Richard HOPPER & his sons,and John MEEKS Sr. and his sons all lived in Philipstown, often neareach other, and were on the 1790, 1800 and 1810 census. Thisindicates that the father of John Sr. was probably Edward of Yonkers,NY; John Sr. named his eldest son Edward (b.1757) which also hintsthat Edward was the grandfather.
