He was nicknamed "Peter the Roper", according to family memebers.Said to have worked in a rope factory in Belfast at one time, probablyto do with the ship-building industry there. In 1887 he worked inBelfast as a shoemaker (per marriage record) and was son of PatrickGreenan, a laborer, deceased. In 1893 he lived at 58 Clyde St.,Castlereagh, Co. Down (SE edge of Belfast city), working as a "ropespinner". By 1900 Bernard Peter was living in Lisnagore (nearKilleevan, Co. Monaghan) and working as a rope-maker (from his son'sbirth record). Family remembers he had a shop in Killeevan (a generalstore). Evidence suggests that he lived in St. Malachy's parish inBelfast before his marriage, and that he must have worked in the ropefactory next to this parish. It is not actually proven that he is sonof Patrick [the horse dealer] who died in St. Malachy's parish in1883, but this is the best match found so far.

His home was on the Litchfield Road a little north of the Park Laneschool-house. He raised cattle. On Jun 2, 1755 his earmark wasregistered. His second marriage date of 1812 seems odd, since he wasquite old and he died in April of that year.
A WFT note on ancestry.com says that members of his family followedJemima Wilkinson to Genesee, NY to start a religious commune.
[2313] Lucy was married to Stephen Chittenden, who died in 1808. (from emailfrom another researcher)
