[17] Apparently this Geo. Reckord worked as a "teamster"/driver of a horsecart for Grant Ellis of Watkins Glen, NY, c. 1893/4, according to theBusiness Directory of that year....he boarded at "The Kendall" ofWatkins, NY which was a "commercial men's home". The employer, GrantEllis, was (among other things) a dealer in coal at that time. In1907, George worked as a driver for Frank Dwyer of Geneva, NY, anotherdealer in coal. Little is known of his family, but census anddirectory info indicate that George lived awhile on Powers Alley--nextdoor to Peter, who is the right age to be George's father (from censusrecords). To make things confusing, there was another Geo. M. Reckordliving in Geneva in 1900, b. 1872, a day laborer who died in MontourFalls in Dec. 1909. Don't know which one is ours, or if the twodirectory listings referred to the one George.
[2278] 1930 census said that Edith was age 17 at first marriage (onlymarriage). Unsure when the marriage occurred, but she was known asEdith W. Reckord most of her life and identified as the widow ofGeorge Reckord on her death certificate.
