Family bible info from Carolyn Grieve indicates that Sarah (along with12 siblings) was a child of Jesse & Ann Broas.
George McCutcheon's obituary stated that Sarah Broas was a widow whenshe married Peter McCutcheon. But it seems more likely that she wasactually divorced /separated and that her first husband DanielMeeks/Mix went to Michigan with his second wife and several children.
Facts to support Sarah being sister of the others:
Charles J. Broas had Jesse Broas as father & Nany/AnnNicholas/Nicholson as mother.
John P. Broas had dau Emily/Emma J. Broas who was found in thehousehold of her cousin Ira Meeks in 1865.
James Broas apparently had his mother "Nancy" living with him on thecensus of 1850. So Jesse must have died before 1850. (This wasconfirmed by new bible info.)
LDS evidence received from an email correspondent suggests that theBROAS surname derived from the Dutch surname BRAS/BRASS. Dutchimmigrants with the surname BRAS came to New Netherlands in the 1600s.BROAS surname appears in Dutchess co. in the late 1700s and early1800s, then in Broome co. and Enfield, Tompkins co., NY (and MontourFalls, NY) in the 1830s and later.

Familly bible records give 6 Oct 1799 birthdate. Gravestone info (ageat death) indicate birth was 6 Nov 1799. (Bible is probably moreaccurate.) She may have been named after Sarah Nicholson, her aunt -who would also become her mother-in-law (or stepmother-in-law).
[2282] New info shows that Daniel Meeks and Sarah Broas could have been firstcousins, by a marriage of Daniel's father Edward Meeks to SarahNicholson, sister of Sarah Broas's mother Ann/Nancy Nicholson. (ButSarah Nicholson is probably not mother of Daniel, but a step-mother.)
