Went to Dublin in 1829, age 18 and enlisted in the Royal Regiment ofArtillery (Fr. Dick saw the Army pay book). He served in the EastIndies and Ceylon bet. 1840-1848. In 1850 he was in Lough Swilly andmarried. His wife Ann was the daughter of a Presbyterian minister.They had children Alexander, Mary Jane and James Quigley.
