A letter still exists that was written to John Stuartdescribing his so-called "cousin" in Tweedmouth, Scotland, who washimself claimed to be some cousin to Charles the Pretender. Thishints at a connection to Mary Queen of Scots, which has been part ofthe oral history passed down within several branches of the family.John Stuart is buried in Coe Cemetery, Schuyler co., NY.
