[168] His occupation was a weaver at Pfalzweyer, Alsace, France. They hadtheir 7 children baptised there. (source: P. Balliet & theWintersbourg, Lorraine parish records.) Note that Nickolaus wasrecorded as "Johann Nicolaus" or "Hans Nickel".

[173] First Zurbruck ancestor to Alsace-Lorraine was a reformed (Calvinist)refugee, from which we can assume that the Zurbrucks were originallySwiss. Later they became Lutheran, which was the local religion forAlsace-Lorraine. (source: P. Balliet)

[170] Birthdate of 5 Sep 1780 was via P. Balliet with access to localrecords. Parents were reportedly Michael ZURBRUCK and Barbara HUEGEL.[Some other family research had a birth /baptism date of 4 Jan 1781.]

[171] His gravestone says that he died aged 63yrs, 4mos, 26days - whichgives a birthdate of about 6 Oct 1780. But French parish records showthat he was born 5 Sep 1780 and baptised on 3 Oct 1780. So the age atdeath was 1 month too young.

[172] Cemetery Assoc. burial records give a date of March 2, 1844 (probablyburial date). He is buried in Line 24 of the Old Section of thecemetery with his wife, his brother George & George's wife. (Nick'ssons Michael & Johan Nicholas are buried nearby.)
