[947] The name McCutcheon has been spelled several alternate ways inofficial records: McCutchone/McCutchan/McCutchann etc. George'schildren were taken from a list of his heirs on his probaterecords...assuming they were all his children, and not nieces ornephews. This George is said to have been in the Revolutionary War ina Massachusetts Regiment. The Ranger at the Historical Park (in BemisHeights,Saratoga NY) pointed out where George's regiment was stationedfor the Bemis Heights Battle. That Regiment never got into thebattle, but was in a couple of major battles later.
[948] LDS records indicate George was born on 26 Oct. 1761. Gravestone ageat death indicates 22 Sep 1761 as the birthdate.

G. Wellington Stone, 1840-1924, 1st Sgt. Co D 10th NY Vol Cav
his wife Susie M. Owen, wife of G.W. Stone, b. 10/10/1849, d.3/15/1884
(both the above appear on the Stephen Owen shaft monument.)
1855 census shows George W., age 14 in household of his father DavidStone in Dix. Same census shows Wellington Stone, age 14, servant inhousehold of Jonathan Cronk of Catharine. There is a connectionbetween these 2 families, in that David's son Lorin Stone marriedJonathan's sister Abigail Cronk. So it may be that George W. =Wellington and he was recorded on the census on 2 separate days.
