ERIC BERNE QUOTE OF THE MONTH:

February Report:

Winner's Triangle with Tony Cleary

Tony had a good audience for his presentation on the WINNER’S TRIANGLE. In addition to TAI members, there were visitors from the Maynooth Counselling Course being run by TACT in Tallaght. The content of the talk was based on an article by Acey Choy in the book Transactional Analysis in Education . (published by Ecrit)

Tony had good diagrams of the Drama Triangle of Stephen Karpman, with its Persecutor, Rescuer, and Victim positions; and Acey Choy’s Winner’s Triangle, with its alternative positions of Assertive, Caring, and Vulnerable.

Discussion was lively with everyone contributing their ideas. Two interesting points were made: 1. That a person who becomes aware that they are in a vulnerable position has to activate their Nurturing/Protecting Parent part to take responsibility for making themselves more safe; and 2. That the positions on the Winner’s triangle are skills which it takes time and practice to learn. All agreed that the first step is to increase our level of awareness, little by little each day.

It’s Never too Late to be Happy

"Lots of things prevent us from being happy a bad marriage, an unpleasant job, difficult relationships, not enough money, a sad experience. But even if life hasn’t always seemed
