In This Issue:
On Wednesday, November 8 1995, a tiny group in Larne Co. Antrim decided that they would like to form a branch of TAI, to work together to develop their interest and knowledge of transactional analysis.
Hazel Harbinson and Elizabeth Cleary were on hand to see another dream come true. Those present will meet again on November 22, and will help to organise the northern element of the forthcoming North South Transactional Analysis Week (December 2-9 1995, see below)
TAI-Larne members attended the Dublin meeting on November 11, and would welcome visitors to support them at their meetings.
In the November NewsNotes, it was mentioned that our IACT representative was Jeanette Rigney. By this it is meant that within our group, she is the person who knows most about IACT.
In no way does this mean that she has official standing within IACT, and if we inadvertently gave this impression, we apologise for any confusion caused.

Look out for items on Transactional analysis in your local press and on radio during Publicity Week Dec. 2-9
If you would like us to visit your area of the country, please contact Hazel at Larne 0801-574-278-571
Please contact Mary Carr at 01-4555523 if you would be willing to offer any help whatever. We need volunteers to transport trainers and homes where they could stay maximum 2 nights.
This will be a week-end course, will cost about £85 and will be given by a designated trainer who will issue the TA101 attendance certificate. Send your name address and £10 booking fee to
TA101 Course, Transactional Analysis in Ireland (TAI).Carmichael House, Brunswick Street, Dublin 7.
Less Cost, Longer Time: The TA101 certificate may also be obtained by personal study and a written examination. TAI is exploring the possibility of running a course to support people considering studying for this examination.
12x1hour units could be done over 1 intensive week-end, 2 Saturdays, 2 Sundays, 6 nights in one week, or over six weeks. Cost (approx. £35) will depend on venue costs and number of participants. Interested? Name, Address, Phone number to 01-4511125 and let us know what days would NOT suit you.

(TA in Education, Business, and Personal Development)
(subtitled Everyone makes Mistakes)
The cost of these week-end work-shops will be around £65 to £80, depending on how many take part. Those who wish to do so can pay by degrees.
Those intending to work towards TA certification will be able to log these hours as part of their training.
Please let us know (01-4555523 if you want to be on our special mailing list for course information.
14 people attended including 5 new people.
Members commented on the imbalance of time given to administration versus TA education and discussion.
It was decided that from now on, the Business part of the meeting will be regarded as separate from the Information/Education part, although for the present, they will be held one after the other - so you can attend both.
This will mean that the tasks required for running TAI will be undertaken by people who have made an Adult decision to become involved and committed for a period, rather than by some whose Child guilt has made´ them help.
Having said that, it is hoped that all members will remain interested in the decision making ; suggestions and comments in writing will be most welcome at all times and on all topics.
November Topic SCRIPTS was given Elizabeth Cleary.

Original exposition of Transactional Analysis theory. Tough for a starter, but rich as main course
1964 - Games People Play by Eric Berne, pub. Penguin
Catalogue of psychological manoeuvres used to avoid intimacy. Tragically funny bestseller
1967 - I´m OK, You´re OK by Thomas Harris, pub. Pan
I started with this. Very clear easy read.
1970 -Sex in Human Loving by Eric Berne pub. Penguin
Delightful look at human nature - probably my favourite Berne book.
1971 - Born to Win by Muriel James and Dorothy Jongeward Pub. Addison-Wesley
Beginners book - includes gestalt-type exercises. Illustrated. Highly recommended
1971 - Games Alcoholics Play BY Claude Steiner, pub Ballantine
Sees alcoholism as behaviour rather than illness. I am not qualified to comment other than to say that it is a fairly easy read.
1974 - What do you say after you say Hello by Eric Berne pub. Corgi
Berne´s last book. Sometimes complicated, sometimes very funny, mostly thought-provoking. Probably needs more than one reading.
1974 - Scripts People Live by Claude Steiner pub Grove Press
Clear writing about difficult topic.
1987 - TA To-day by Ian Stewart and Vann Joines, pub. Lifespace Publishing
Excellent book for beginning students. Has exercises which can be used by individual or group
1992 - Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy by Petruska Clarkson, pub. Routledge
Professionals book. Covers everything. Integrative Approach.
1992 - Eric Berne by Ian Stewart, pub. Sage
Covers Berne´s life and writings. Examines validity of commentaries on usefulness of transactional analysis. Very clear writing.
