EDITORIAL:

Back to normality, if there is ever such a thing.

A big round of strokes to Hazel for doing the NewsNotes for February - it was a great help to me not to have to be thinking about them while at the same time launching the SEAFA Course in Larne.

You will be glad to know that the course is going very well. Some thirty people have come along, though not all enrolled.

It has been fairly hectic for Mary Carr and myself, and the three others who have been making the journey with us every second Saturday. Last session, we went by bus, and got a lift from Belfast.

The course is a delight to give, and I think, to participate in. It has a fast pace, with many activities on a variety of topics. It will probably be a while before students absorb all the material presented.

FEBRUARY REPORT

The February 8 Meeting was in our new venue in Phibsboro, and we are very grateful for the use of this warm comfortable room.

Geraldine and Hazel gave the topic, the Stroke Economy, and there was a lively discussion afterwards, followed by the welcome cuppa tea, coffee or water, according to your taste.

An especially welcome feature of the new venue is the locked car-parking. Come a little early if you want to use this. Look forward to seeing you March 8 at 7 p.m.same new venue.

ERIC BERNE QUOTE OF THE MONTH:

Life is simple. All you have to do is figure out the most probable outcomes of various courses of conduct, and then pick the most attractive or the least troublesome. (Sex in Human Loving, p.245)

MARCH TOPIC PREVIEW

The March meeting will feature a small part of the re-parenting theory of Muriel James as written up in her book It's Never Too Late to be Happy.

To quote Muriel:

Regardless of the unhappiness in your past, you can live now, feeling alive and expectant as you take time, or move outside of time, to discover it's never too late to be happy.

We will do some of the exercises devised by Muriel and her son John, both of whom I met in 1995.

This session will be an introduction to Muriel's work, a mere taster. Later in the year, I will tackle another chapter.

Since the consensus of TAI at different recent meetings, both North and South, has shown that the current over-riding interest of members is in personal development rather than professional training, the pace of presentations and the inter-active nature of current material at monthly meetings, reflects this understanding.

If we learn even one concept per month, we will be making steady progress towards making ourselves and others happier.

SPECIAL CELEBRATION DAY-OUT

Suggested picnic or other social event. Any ideas?

VENUE: Not finalised yet, but suggested somewhere in Louth, maybe....

It doesn't have to be in Louth. If we had unlimited funds, how do you think we should celebrate our DAY-OUT?

You know what the saying says: If you want to dream, dream BIG! Well, here's your chance, fantasise for a few minutes.

Would you like a dance, or a swim, or a game of something; or would you like to watch someone else performing?

Maybe you might like to go somewhere special, what about the Zoo, or the Japanese Gardens?

Come on folks, don't leave all the dreaming to the few. Phone 4511125 or write in your ideas. Even if we cannot make them come true, it would be nice to know your dreams.

The DAY-OUT will include: Third Annual General Meeting - Very Short but very Important!
