TAI (Transactional Analysis in Ireland) is a small group (formed December 4 1994).
To provide education in Transactional Analysis to members, and to the general public;
To apply such TA theories as may be relevant to their own lives;
To help and encourage anyone interested in providing TA training at all levels of expertise;
To morally support anyone interested in making TA professionally available to members of the public who require it;
To disseminate information about TA through whatever means the group agrees are appropriate;
To operate as a group in accordance with the philosophical assumptions of TA:
The philosophical assumptions are as follows:
Transactional analysis is a psychological and social theory with mutual contracting for growth and change.
(If you know what goes on INSIDE people,
as well as what goes on BETWEEN people,
you can decide if YOU want to grow and change.)
Transactional Analysis is for Everyone
TAI groups educate themselves and the general public in the basics of transactional analysis.
People from all walks of life attend meetings, ranging across all age-groups and varied educational abilities.
TRANSACTIONAL ANALYSIS can be used in many fields:
Education:
Parents, Grandparents, Child-minders, Teachers, Students, Trainees;
Business:
Management, Investors, Workers, Unions;
Clinical:
Psychiatrists, Therapists, Clients, Family, GP, Nurse, Hospital and Clinic staff;
Personal Development:
Young, Old, Male, Female, Rich, Poor;
Politics:
Politicians, Councillors, Civil-servants, Voters,
TA is widely used, in 60 countries all over the world, helping people to understand themselves and others.
Yet it is scarcely known in Ireland.
What kind of relationships do we find encouraged in the IRISH CULTURE?
Does it vary North, South, East and West?
Do our CULTURAL RELATIONSHIPS produce particular difficulties?
Perhaps some of the ways we treat each other makes CLIENTS of us all?
And is there an IRISH STYLE of relationship
- whether in school, workplace, clinic, home, church or parliament?
Transactional analysis maintains that :
People are basically OK [even if their behaviour doesn't always show this];
People can think [even if they do not always choose to do so]
People make decisions that can later be changed [even if they decide not to do so]
Does all this fit in with the IRISH ATTITUDE - [if there is such a thing]?
TRANSACTIONAL ANALYSIS is potentially for EVERYONE
As a group, TAI (Transactional Analysis in Ireland) is actively committed to being an ALL-IRELAND group. From our inception, people from the four provinces have supported us.
There are currently two branches , one in the North and one in the South.
TAI informal monthly meetings usually consist of informal presentations on aspects of the theories of Eric Berne , author of GAMES PEOPLE PLAY. Sometimes, we watch part of a TA-related video.
This is followed by lively discussion of some aspect of transactional analysis theory, and of how it applies to everyday life.
TAI also arranges occasional work-shops and courses according to demand, inviting visiting speakers to share expertise.
Meetings are usually free of charge, though donations are appreciated. Come and see what it is like
